Forums - Sony - Why is the Yakuza series so ignored by ps3 consumers

Its a question thats been bugging me for a while now. Yakuza and Yakuza 2 were 2 of the many great games that came out on PS2. story, cinematics, gameplay etc. were all top notch but they didnt even make 100,000 units sold mark.

The question I would like to ask is why?? and plz dont say it was the length of time it took to get here becuz that shouldnt have mattered.

Gucci mane thats why.....lol seriously it sells well in JPN problem is outside I cant really blame them if they just want to keep the series exclusive to JPN since its going to selll well there

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I think the time they took getting to NA was a definite factor. They were pretty low-profile releases here too. You're right though, especially regarding Yakuza 3. I should be getting more attention from PS3 owners.

I have only ever heard of this series here. I'm assuming they are simply throwing a product across the ocean with no advertising. Thus abysmal sales. If they marketed it i'm sure it would sell. People would love a crazy Yakuza story the same way they love crazy mob stories and kung fu action flicks. SEGA just needs to show them that it exists.

I think it is a combination of a lack of marketing, letting the hype die off before the games get released here, and the fact that the games generally had Japanese gamers in mind.

i just hope sony helps to fund its release in states and Europe all the game needs is a little marketing and open minds towards culture and its sure to be a hit

ps2 was on it's last legs, when they released that, game, if it was released during early 2007, it would have sold much more.
