Honestly I'm surprised Sega is that high even. What would they even be talking about regarding Sega? How bad all the post dreamcast Sonic games have been?
I miss the awesome game making swaggering Sega of the early 90s Genesis does what Nintendo Don't era. Too bad the last decade has given Sega absolutely nothing to swagger about.

The only really good news here is that the Xbox has been separated from Microsoft as a company to an extent which given the popularity of everything else Microsoft (Zune, Vista, Windows Mobile ect) is quite the blessing. As to the mentions I have no idea how they are finding more Xbox mentions then Nintendo mentions, the only thing I can think of is that a lot of Wii users are younger and thus less likely to update on social networks (and in many cases their profiles are not searchable in the same way as adult profiles because of child predator concerns). I am constantly inundated with Wii crap from other peoples facebook updates and almost never have come across anything about the 360 (or to be honest the PS3). Apple/iphone domination is spot on though especially amongst my college going peers. In my 4 years at UCSD its gone from maybe 20% mac laptops on campus to well over half now. I even know more then a handful of people who actually have Apple logo tattoos, as scary a thought as that is. Maybe that tattoo thing is partially due to the better branding, an apple logo fits much better on a woman's lower back then an Xbox 360 logo with that ubiquitous tagline "jump in". The only way to describe that tattoo on the lower back would be...awkward. |
It is not so surprising to have more xbox mentions. Here is what has been searched for more on Google. And you are right, this has nothing to do with sales.

you should do Wii instead of just Nintendo. The Wii has more brand recognition in a lot of ways then even Nintendo does at this point.
While Xbox and Microsoft seem somewhat distinct (probably by design) Sony and Playstation and Nintendo and Wii are far more interchangeable. If someone is looking for Microsoft they are most likely looking for tech support or Windows 7 news and not the xbox, but if someone is looking for either Nintendo or Wii its pretty clear what they're interested in.

notice there the Wii is significantly higher then the Xbox especially around the holiday periods, if you add Nintendo to Wii its pretty staggering how much interest is out there.

Absolutley. And MS has earned the all the legitimate, negative, non-fanboy discussions. If the internet was what it is now in the early 80's this would be akin to the Ford Bronco II being among the most discussed products. Famous vs infamous. Not that the 360's existance is that black & white, but still....

According to most people on this site you suck it up and buy a 2nd and third one replacing the defective one each time it breaks because one cannot live without playing Gears of War 2.

Or you send it in for free for repair. Until recently for launch consoles. But your broad statement is implying a long standing trend, which is just erroneous.
