Forums - General - EU attacks 'Buy American' clause

The United States needs to worry about the United States. Not how good a deal the rest of the world can get. NAFTA is a perfect example of other countries getting the better end of the bargain over the United States.

Tons of US based manufacturing companies have moved their operations into Canada / Mexico and out of the United States. Which has had a very negative impact on the industry as a whole.

Wow.. pull up your ladder, Jack.

i support it, we are trying to fix our country and we get a two fold perk by using american goods

one---you create a job by needed said good produced

two--you spend money in the states that stays in the states

i have no problem with it and its a shame other countries want us to fail instead of keepig active

See this would be all fine and dandy if globalisation didn't exist. This could lead to a trade war, which would sent the usa deeper into recession.

@mesoteto No, they don't want you to fail. They want to not fail, buy buying American , you're cutting jobs elsewhere in the world.

^its not like every were we just stop using foreign goods---only projects funded by this bill---so its really just a matter of EU being greedy and wanting a piece of teh the american recovery pie

but why should we spend taxpayer money on supporting other countries? Why not support our own citizens, who can then decide for themselves if they want to buy foreign made goods (which they will)

And again,  the United States needs to do what is best for the United States.  The rest of the world be damned.  I personally, could careless about jobs elsewhere in the world.   Worrying about everyone else is something the US has done for far too long.

agreed, its not like the bill is saying every foreign good needs to be burned at teh docks and never bought again

its saying "hey this is a way for america to aid in its own recovery, lets create jobs by only using this money in america on american goods"

how is that a bad thing to want to do--its supposed to be our bail out, not a global bailout people.....we have done enough of that the last 100 years and its time for us to take a moment and recover before we kill ourselves trying to police, save, and feed the rest of the world

i mean we are killing our country trying to save the world and its going to cause our colapse if we dont take a breather
