Hey I've been thinking. The term "race" seems kind of pointless. Maybe its just me but a race should be first one to finish line is first, second is second and so forth. What we do is just have a time limit and at the end of the entire period collect scores. So people that crossed the finish line, so to speak, are just waiting on the others. Doesn't make much sense and it really isn't a race in any sense.

I realize in games were no one gets the 1000 points it isn't an issue but in races like Fallout, Fable and Sonic's Collection it should have been first finish wins first. I even think that and it would have knocked me out of first place in two of those races. But then maybe we wouldn't have to worry about a set number of people getting the full points and instead the amount of time taken. I realize that's hard to measure so that's probably the problem but we could post here once we complete the 1000 points to verify it with the league. I guess if no one could verify then it would come down to trust and that might be the issue.

Yeah that sounds a bit messy, I agree with your points. Maybe the name could change to Tournament?

That would be more accurate I think. I mean, I like it the way it is now its just misnamed. But what is in a name really? Perhaps I'm just being picky and stupid.

An honour system will only work if everyone is as active and vocal on this thread as you JPL :) but unfortunately theyre not. And it will still take a lot of work on the updating side.

The term race works for those games where getting the max G is virtually impossible within the set timeframe.

Is nobody playing Halo Wars! I know its not out in America yet but its been out for 2 days in Pal land and only 2 users! I got the game but havn't been able to play yet.

I had picked up Red Alert 3 for a reduced price and don't feel the need for another rts but I'm sure Halo Wars is better. I'm going to be doing good to get the games I want in March and I've already had to scrap Halo Wars and Fear 2 in favor of doing that.

I hope Magic the Gathering and Sacred 2 end up being races but I'm doubting it.

You're right Eagles, it was a half baked idea. Still, a shame we can't track finish times better.. that would really intensify the races where 1000 points is possible.

the number of people getting it will increase a ton once it comes out in america.

Careful with the scores on Sonics UGC. Another 1000 and it'll be disqualified lol

Well that's the question, is there really reason to disqualify a race if so many people get 1000 points if we are going on a timed based? Because then it really doesn't matter how many people get 1000 but only how fast they accomplished it.

Yeah, jason, I realize that could easily happen. Seriously, I am not uber gamer and I cleared it in 3 and a half days. You can't tell me everyone else couldn't do that. Obviously I want it to stay a race because I stand to make some points here, but aside from that going with our new criteria it's going to be hard to have any races, very few, that fill the quota based on gamerscore and metacritic ranking. Sure, top dog games like Street Fighter and Resident Evil will make it but second teir games based on popularity will easily be discounted.

Last season we had tons of races and i think under the new rules we would end up with only major major games becoming and staying races.
