Forums - Gaming - PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 Graphics Gap Will Start To Widen

More fanboy crap sourced from a amateur fanboy site. No proof provided just religious like 'faith'.

I don't recall developers whining about the PS2 being difficult to develop for. I do recall Sony's PR campaign on the 'Emotion Engine' (much like they did with the 'Cell').

All this article does is state the obvious for ALL gaming systems. That is the developers are able to squeeze ever more out of the respective consoles as the years go by. Duh!

Do some of you really think Gears 2 is the best graphics the 360 will ever produce? Just 3 years into it's life? Would you say the Wii has been maxed?

Keep on dreaming.

I think the opposite is more closer to the truth. XBox 360 games are becoming better than PS3 and that gap is widening in terms of larger environments and details, better online play, better multi-platform titles - the XBox 360 games have the edge.

The source of that article is psxextreme a PS3 biased source. I consider the value of that article is next to nothing. PS3 fans are obviously going to talk their games and systems up. A neutral unbiased media source would give gamers a much more balanced view.

At the end of the day PC games which are Microsoft exclusive beat both XBox 360 and PS3 games hands down. Crysis FTW.

I think the gap is getting wider, but in 360 favour

For example both White Kngiht and Fable 2 have big spaces, but Fable 2 has far better visuals, lighting, detail, forests, textures, shaders, more wide open places and with far more variety around etc than the generic barren looking WKC with the sparse vegetation and few monster which reminds of Monster Hunter or a MMO, than a really next gen visually title like Fable 2

Heavy Rain is on paths and rails, and while looks great, Alan Wake looks as amazing, and has a huge world to explore and vast detail and scale around

MGS4, Uncharted and Killzone 2 are set in tiny paths, and linear ones too, there is nothing next gen about their level design or detailed world, in fact Gears 2 has bigger and vastly more detailed levels

Infamous is big in scale, but the visuals are mediocre, while games like Two Worlds Temptation on 360 have amost Crysis visuals and are 2x the size of Oblivion, which is again far above anything on PS3

So, in a game to game comparisson, PS3 is far behind in scale and detail in all its games, those that do have the scale, lack the next gen visuals, which on 360 you get some of the best next visuals and vast game worlds filled with detail

See the below thread for those games links and pics

Also games like KUF2, Divinity 2, Venetica, Risen etc have some stunning huge worlds only on 360 as well

lol if you say so ;)

it was a good laugh though

Er....that's not  the discussion here. The article is suggesting the 360 is near to being maxed out. No proof provided of course.

Of course not! the PS3 and 360 still have a LOT more to offer but trying to make out the PS3 will offer more when the 360's GPU is better (fact) is silly, ignoring facts just to make your console look better isn't the way to do things and you know it,

All the consoles still have loads more to offer, trying to make out the PS3 will suddenly leave the 360 in the dust is pure rubbish, multiplats still run and look better (90% of the time) on the 360, developers have made it crystal clear that the 360 still has loads left it in,

If anything it will be the 360 that keeps getting better, the PS3's GPU and memory issues can only offer so much, when these limits are finally reached the 360 will start to stride ahead.

Also, regarding the Killzone 2 only using 60% of the PS3 power comments, maybe you should look at the latest interview (on here somewhere as I read it) where the developer clearly says the PS3 is often maxed out when running Killzone 2.

While most good graphic games these days have small linear paths,Gears 2 does have large open Area's and a good draw distance, but so does Uncharted.

No game this gen will have near Crysis graphics :(

The 360 isn't declining. have you played the Res Evil 5 demo? Or seen the Star Ocean videos?

the multiplat look better on the lead platform,,,,it's not a general rule at all and does not ahve anything to do with capabilities of PS3 or 360.

the guy says while running killzone 2 PS3 is NO WHERE NEAR MAXED OUT.

well as of now, PS3 at its second year is out doing 360 in its third year.and that my friend is the fact. ;)  (in exclusive titles)

Duuh ps3 has blu-ray power, I don't even know if we will ever see the ps3's full potential. The 360 is near its limit. Killzone 2 only uses 60% power. Don't forget to add the ps3's powerfuler procer which can apparently run 120fps :P

Uninfomeed people can be so annoying, and to think they have a voice box on the internet to broadcast their misinformation makes me cringe.
