Could I fit 4.176GB worth of DivX media files onto a 4.7GB DVD?

It may sound like I need to use commen sense, but people tell me that certain files, when burned to a DVD (Like .avi) get bigger in size, and concidering the 4.176GB I want to put on there is made up of 29 seperate media files, I wanted to know that if the files will get bigger, will it get too big?

Also what burning speed should I use? People tell me to sue a slower speed for less errors, but I don't want it to take all day...

Any Help is appreciated! :)

(Sorry if I sound a little stupid, I'm usually experianced with these things, but I rarely find myself burning anything to DVD, and then today I said "what the hey, its just taking up room on my computer!"... So Sue me :P)

Yes, you shouldn't have any trouble fitting it on there.

I would use Nero. Use Nero 7 or 8. Nero 9 is a big piece of crap.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. as direct video or as files?

If you are going to try to play the disc on a DVD player, good luck with that. If you are just using it to store the files, you should have no problem.

That should fit on a DVD with no problem.
As for the burn speed, if you plan on watching with a stand alone DivX compatible DVD player burn at a speed no faster than 4x because some players have really shitty error correction. I've burned dozens of DivX DVDs over 4 gigs at 4x and they all play just fine in both of my players. (Philips and Samsung)

Who the hell still uses DivX? Xvid replaced it years ago.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

The filesize is the same on your computer as it would elsewhere. Unless you do some video conversion while then they aren't the same file anymore.

Use some common sense and not listen to BS :)

All your files should fit on the disc with no problems. Depending on the quality of your burner, speed shouldn't be an issue.

I always though it was the other way around. You can fit a 707mb avi onto a 700mb cd without overburn, so on a dvd you could in theory gain up to 44mb.
