Earlier today we posted up some new screenshots of Southpeak and Timegate’s kickbutt FPS game, Section 8. As you may have read in the previous article, it appeared that it was only going to be available for PC from here on out. However, a little mishap in the press circuit may have caused gamers (and reporters) to become misinformed.

The article about Section 8 looking like a mix of Halo and Crysis infers that the game is a PC exclusive, save for the update at the bottom of the page. According to the press release from earlier today it was labeled only for PC and led many within the industry to believe that the 360 and PS3 versions had been axed.

Turns out, only the PS3 version won’t be making a turn-out to retailers later this year, as Section 8 is, indeed, scheduled for release on PC and Xbox 360. An e-mail from Southpeak's public relations let us in on the info, saying…” Section 8 is coming out for PC AND Xbox 360. Just thought you should know, since you sounded kind of disappointed (not that I would blame you).”

I’m not sure what happened in the process from when TimeGate’s project was acquired by Southpeak (in which case they were originally partnered with GameCock), but the PS3 will be missing out on a very noteworthy shooter for 2009. Too bad.

For most people, this will be the first they're even hearing of the game. I doubt they'll find it to be much of a loss...or a gain.

What is Section 8?

Section 8, or the Housing Choice Voucher Program, is a Federal housing program which provides housing assistance to low-income renters and homeowners. This assistance comes in the form of rental subsidies, limiting the monthly rent payment of the assistance recipient.

Never heard of this game before now.

maybe you play as a section 8 program upholder who fights off bad credit and crime so the federal housing program succeds in its mission to assist low-income renters/homeowners in their everlasting stronger through this economy.

P.S I don't have a problem with the developer, but im really tired of all these games popping up out of nowhere with no past and no future because it'll likely just get lost in the sea of other games unless its excellent above and beyond the average out there.

Btw, does anyone know any reason TO care about this game or developer? (Not trying to be harsh) I just want to know about their reputation.

Why doesn't Timegate try to port Kohan to consoles? If they could do it right, they would get a lot of attention. Kohan (series) is one of the best RTS's that almost no one has heard of.

I knew a mod would be the first one to reply to this thread. Is there any reason to be excited for this game coming to any system?

Yeah, ok I just checked out their past. I will give them a break. If the Conduit can get hyped, im sure this game deserves a little too even if im not overly familiar with the game.
