Forums - Sony - Sony Launches Slimmest TV ever

it's one of the new bravias and not their OLED technology.40-inch LCD.

it's less than 1 cm thick.

"

SONY will today launch the world’s thinnest telly — slimmer even than a slice of toast.

The £3,000 TV, the latest in the Japanese firm’s Bravia range, is just 9.9mm thick.

That is 60 TIMES slimmer than a typical set from the 1950s.

It is so thin because tiny LED lights usually illuminating the flat screen from behind have been placed round the sides.

Spokesman Christian Brown said: “Sony is continuously striving to lead the way with advanced innovations in TV technology and cutting edge design. We’re excited to see our customers’ reactions.”

  • THE 1969 moon landing has been voted the best “World First” captured on TV, according to a Sony poll to promote its new tellies. Barack Obama’s inauguration was second and the assassination of John F Kennedy third."

This article is awfully low on details. It doesn't even say what technology this is based on. How do we know it's not an OLED panel?

Only £3000 !! I might as well get me two.

@NJ5 This isThe Sun and not exactly written for the most intelligent reader.

Wouldn't like to hang that on the wall, might cut yourself.

From a side profile though it looks gorgeous.

would you consider that ultra portable?

I thought Bravia was for all their TVs.

I found a slightly better article:

The name of the TV is apparently Bravia ZX1. It's a 40-inch LCD. Impressive!
