Forums - Microsoft - Does the 360 have any real exclusives?

Fantastic article Onyxmeth!!!
This really does put the "lack of 360 exclusives" rubbish to rest.....

Hmm who used that argument first? ....

Almost every PS3 Fanboy on this site, this thread shows that the 360 has MORE exclusives than the PS3 without even adding the 360/PC shared exclusives (they still are console exclusives), if you added the PC/360 exclusives to the list the 360 would have almost double the exclusives than that of the PS3,

Which ever way you look at it the 360 has more exclusives than the PS3, PS3 fanboys can try and de-rail this thread all they want but it won't change a SINGLE THING!

Maybe next time Sony Fanboys......

It has nothing to do with exclusives. Microsoft certainly has more exclusives (As has been proven).

To what quality are these exclusives? Most GOOD "exclusives" (As in exclusives you would want to play as the average gamer) are also available on PC. All that this thread proves is that the 360 has a lot higher percentage of mediocre exclusives than the PS3 and a lower percentage of good exclusives.

Sometimes percentages are useful to make a point and sometimes not.

Can you play percentages ? No but you can play games.

And you're not forced to buy the crappy exclusives (which are definitely in favour of the 360)

For a system that has been out a full year longer,  you most certainly can play percentages.   There is 3 games in (Three years) that are 'exclusive to the 360' with over a 90+ Metacritic.    The PS3 currently has 2 in (Two years).   With the possibilities of KZ2, God of War III, GT5, Uncharted 2 all looming that number looks to climb and quite possibly surpass the current 360 amount of 3.

Another almost certainty,  is that the 360 (Remember with a full year extra under it's belt) has 14 titles 80+ via Meta Critic compared to the PS3 with 12 titles 80+ via Meta Critic.   Even assuming only one of the above mentioned titles can achieve a 90+ Meta Critic rating (Tying the 360 at 3).

The remaining three above should achieve easily an 80+ Meta Critic rating. Which again thrusts the favor to the PS3 and gives the PS3 the edge.  Considering how many games the 'Average' Video gamer will purchase, it is likely that these gamers will be most likely to be playing games from the 80+/90+ Meta Critic ratings.

Given this. The PS3 has a better array (Albeit very slightly) of exclusive games that you cannot play on any other platform.

The point of this thread may have been to shed light on the fact that the 360 has a large amount of sheer Xbox 360 exclusives,  but really all it does is show how big of a disappointment much of that large library is.

The PS3 is the only console to release games in the next years ?

The rest are pure assumptions.

No. However,  if you were to buy a console 'today',  you would probably buy the console that is appearing like it has a good amount of exclusive games currently (Both 360/PS3 do) and will put out the most 'good' exclusive games into the future.  Given that,  you would choose a PS3.

And no they aren't really assumptions.   To say that God of War III, Gran Turismo 5 don't appear to be possible AAA (90+ Meta Critic titles) or at the very least definite 80+ Meta critic titles is pretty laughable.  Just like somebody saying Halo 3 or Gears of War 2 wouldn't be good games.   And as of now Kill Zone 2 pretty much confirmed AAA status.

Bringing the average gamer into this is like yodeling at the swiss alps after a heavy snow-fall. NPD shows that they only have one platform and if they are console gamers it brings the whole PC/360 exclusive list into contention as well. You just raised yourself:

  • Gears of War 1.
  • Mass Effect.
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon.
  • Left 4 Dead.

Have a nice day.

P.S You really should make sure that you're talking about the library with yourself as the context, and make that very clear. Otherwise its very rude.

Tease.

Rpruett, what are you trying to prove? That your favored console is better? Are you really this insecure with your purchase? God of War III and likely GT5 won't make it out this year. So that leaves Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 for this year. Then on the 360 this year we have MANY exclusives coming and many 360/PC exclusives that cannot be played on a PS3. Those are covered in other threads so I won't bring that into this one.

Basically what I am saying is that since the Xbox 360 has more higher rated games out NOW (especially counting arcade titles), and has more exclusives coming and many that are still unannounced that can come out in 2009, someone just now purchasing a console today is much more likely to get a 360 (unlike your belief that the PS3 would somehow win the purchaser over with empty promises). Also, there is the price difference so many people purchasing a console today will not even consider the PS3, sorry.

Or you could just do the only smart and best thing: get all 3 (PC/360/PS3) like me so that you have all games covered and won't have to argue to make yourself feel better about only owning the losing one system.

Killzone 2...Halo 3 odst

GT5 ... Race Pro and Forza 3

Heavy Rain ... Alan Wake

God of War 3 ... Ninja Blade and Ninty-Nine Nights

Demons Soul ... Star Ocean 4 and Mass Effect 2

Infamous ... GTA 4 episode 1 and 2

...and so on... Trust me,we are very happy with our cheap purchase that has no real exclusives.

You're right they may have one platform.  That one platform is usually a PC unfortunately.   Which spits in the face of the whole 360 exclusivity idea that this thread was based on.  If most people have only one platform.   And that one platform is PC.   What does this majority of people go out and purchase?  A console where they could already play a good majority of it's games on their current setup.

Or go to a different console that provides them games that they can't play anywhere else.

Except the average PC is no where NEAR the needed specs for PC games, and most people interested in console gaming are not PC gamers.  Thus, the 360 console still wins unlike your poorly formed arguments in a desperate attempt to save your single PS3 console from being the laughing stock of the financial world and to justify your purchase when you indeed have realized it was a mistake now.... or you could buy a 360 and a gaming PC like me and call it a day!

Now seriously, we get that you don't post here often, and likely are just a copy/duplicate account, but your desperation is pitiful.

Oh and to answer your bolded section, they would buy the 360 because it has more of those exclusive games and more higher rated games with a sound financial future for more great and exclusive games :D  You only miss out on a few games from the PS3 which are basically just the same games from other consoles with a new face (Uncharted = new lara croft, Killzone 2 = Sony's best attempt to try and capture an audience like Halo/Gears do, etc.)

The PC only becomes a real gaming platform when you add a reasonable graphics card to it. Lots of devices have browsers for flash based games, its definately not a PC domain. The average new PC buyer owns a laptop and you cannot easy game on those and thats more than 50% of new PC purchases. Add some Mac and low end desktops and you could say that fewer than 10% of new PCs could play an Xbox 360 game to a reasonable standard.

So why are you so desperate to prove the Xbox 360 library suxorz? You feeling insecure huh?

I am simply proving that there is definite validity to the "exclusivity" that the 360 provides you.  The sheer fact that the 360 has a lot of exclusive 'bad' titles in three years isn't very impressive to anyone.

I could careless about the sales between 360 vs PS3.   A logical person with a moderate PC (Which most households have), would not purchase an Xbox 360 because of items mentioned previously.  They would be far better suited to go with a Wii or PS3 looking generally at the titles available "exclusively" to either system.

Far from it.

I own all four platforms. A recently built PC (August 08'). PS3/360/Wii.  No need to make myself feel better about anything. Don't mistake my bashing of the 360 'superior' library as fanboy rhetoric.  The premise of this thread is simple.  If it's PC/360 exclusive it is not "360 exclusive".   Therefore it shouldn't count as an "Exclusive title".

The point that I am making (To counter the OP's intention to some extent) is that sheer "amount" of exclusive titles means very little when the overall quality is horrendous in comparison.

I've always been a pc fan. But I'm buying all of my games on the 360 because my pc can't handle it anymore. I have no plans to upgrade for a very long time. So right now I can enjoy a lot of my pc games on the 360, so this works out just fine for me.
