Forums - Gaming - A.I. so smart in a game it really has feeling.

That's sounding a bit better, but I still would have a hard time killing the character. I think the exception would be most FPS. I mean sure they might be there thinking, but they still have that goal to kill you, and you probably only see them what? 30 seconds at most? Sandbox games though....little different.

I will admit though I would slaughter a whole town once just to see what it's like >.>. However probably regret doing everything afterwards and hate myself for doing it.

lol I've been honest the whole thread. I'm not trying to sound like a saint. I would kill bad characters however I would have a really hard time killing good characters and to an extent some evil ones.

People have brought up A.I. the movie in this thread. Think about that, but just in a non physical character. It's hard to kill something that actually thinks for itself wither it has a physical body or not. If it's just the physical part for you imagine if you could take that AI and transfer it into and actual android.

Well you would hope to kill them and they may pretend to die.
Only problem is if they really do get to smart and can do these interactive things you suggest in a game then they may represent a real challenge to humanity so this may be a real problem.
Would the AI's try to develop a virus type replicator and protect themselves from deletion by hiding inside the OS or spreading to other computers and systems ?
Would they try to influence you to help them survive ! i.e. Help us out and we will help you out in return.
No doubt a good simulated AI - well designed can replace us in time the inventors would be the teacher and master to start with but good students eventually gain their graduation and their rights and go onto something bigger.
Anyways wont be long Research in AI continue to bring advances and beyond human level AI is not so far away.

just so every one knows, im not saying my thoughts are fool proof, there is alot of stuff I can think of right now that I cant explain, and looking for answers for, but what im getting at is that there is something about humans that does not exist in the physical and thus cant be reproduced by physical means. And I've given all the evidence I can think of at the moment that points towards this, as well as going off track with other related things lol.

So because this 'something' (which gives the ability to recognise choices and makes choices, as well as self recognition) can not be reproduced by physical means man can never create it using AI. It has to be given to what ever the creation is via the natural means of which life is injected into a living breathing human.

EDIT: And apart from saying it's God who gives life and man his ability to think and make choices, morals, etc, man has no idea where this extra non physical something comes from.

It seems all of your ideas stem from your belief that we have freedom of choice. I have tried to see if there's something else to it but I can't glean it from your posts. Your belief that we have freedom of choice is just that, a belief. It's not particularly supported by anything remotely observable or provable. That makes your theory just another religious and/or pseudo-scientifical theory like so many of the other theories claiming we are more than physical.

If I have misunderstood something please say. And don't be condescending like last time (when you said "I recomend you spend as much time as me researching and thinking about these things"). That doesn't help your point at all, it makes it look like you can't support your own arguments with words and must resort to pointless attacks.

PS: If you think I have misinterpreted you, point me at a specific quote where you attempted to support your freedom of choice belief. Just to clarify and help make this a meaningful debate.

Question: If a sandbox game was made, with a world full of A.I. on the level you describe, that was about being a homicidal rapist maniac turned, into a genocidal dictator, would you play it?

oh crap that's a hard one. I don't know really. The idea of something like that is intriguing, I would probably try and play through it without the rape, and after a while i wouldn't know if I could do it.  That's a good question, I don't think my conscious could handle it.
