Forums - Sony - Don't claim Killzone 2 will be sub-par without playing it.

I always love the Sony Ninjas that come flipping out of the shadows and interrogating anyone that suggests that this game isn't the second coming with indignant screams of "HAVE YOU PLAYED THE BETA!?!?!?!? YOU DON'T PLAY BETAAAAAA!!!!!!!" while the massive overhyping goes without similar questioning.

I claim that Killzone 2 will be sub-par... in sales

Killzone 2 will sell less then Call of Duty:WaW

Well since World at War is MULTIPLATFORM that isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as Killzone does at least 2-3mill, which it should do that easily, I don't get your claim of sub par sales. Would YOU say that if it was a 360 exclusive, I highly doubt it.

Wouldn't the game's selling potential go up if it were exclusive to 360? I'm just assuming that were talking about a Microsoft marketed first person shooter here, so I don't think it would dissappoint at all. Then again, it may not dissappoint on PS3 either, but that's up to the awesome marketing team over at Sony.

It probably would sell better on the 360, my point to him though is I doubt he'd give the game this kind of criticism had it not been a PS3 exclusive, judging from his post history. The game could sell 5 mill and people will still try to hold its success as "not that great". That's all I was getting at :)

That goes without saying. He has his allegiances and you have yours.

No, I'm critical of unproven titles... First party Ps3 games have not been performing to expectations.

Also, I'm as critical about Alan Wake, I really don't think AW will be "huge".

I have been told that one must believe in killzone 2 and believers should try to convert people to believe in it. I have been also told that because I am non-believer I must be hater. Well, I can't post the thread or quote that person(If I have understanded correctly its forbidden). Anyway I don't know what Killzone 2 is in the end. Is it a good or bad game, but I can surely understand why people(other than believers) don't like it. I would love to try it tho, because of technical reasons mainly. :)

What's with all the persecution complex threads lately? The level of paranoia in the community is getting out of hand.

I blame it on water fluoridation...

Down with city water! Go well and it'll all be swell!

as solid as a 3 foot wall of solid adamantium---

isnt that a fake metal---so there for this game is not solid at all?

I think the problem with many people is that they interpret "I'm really excited about this game!" as "This game will change gaming forever and sell over 10 million!"

If you scroll through my posting history, you'll see that I've probably hyped this game more than anybody else on this forum, yet the entire time all I've said was that this game plays great, looks really great, and has an addicting multiplayer experience. It's just fun. It won't reinvent the wheel. It won't become the best game ever. It won't do anything like that. But it'll be an awesome game.

And then people come in, bitching about overhype and whatnot, saying people will only be disappointed in the end. Yeah, you might be disappointed, only because you interpreted the excitement in an unrealistic way, most likely only so you could later use it as ammo against fans of a console you don't particularly like.

Well wait until Feb. 5 when the demo is available for download for people who preordered it. Then will see what people think about the game.

No, I think the problem is that far too many people try to quantify their excitement about a game and/or compare the game (favourably) to an already released game ... When people talk about how games were overhyped and people expected them to be 95%+ games that would sell more than 5 Million copies it is because there are/were several posters who were hyping the game and claiming that it was a 95%+ game that would sell more than 5 Million copies.

Certainly, there are a lot of posters with more moderate predictions about games but they're not the ones guilty of overhyping a game.
