Man, the publicity stunts for some games and especially GTA4 are getting more and more ridiculous by the minute. I remember Fallout 3 having the "highest selling opening week ever ever ever, with 4,7 mil copies sold" (to retailers) and to this day there are still around 2 mil copies sitting in stores. Anyway...
...Yes, GTA4 has good humour and even inspired in a couple of scenes and radio shows, which i guess could translate into decent/good humouristic writing, but this is ONLY if you are talking about each scene independently, becasue the story as a whole is uninspired, uninteresting and mostly, downright boring.
Good writing doesn't only mean good jokes, but most importantly it means building up a coherent and at least remotely interesting plot, which the writing in GTA4, needless to repeat, does not. There's really nothing remotelly poignant in the entire game writing and story wise, just a bunch of (mostly funny and mainly due to Nico's accent) jokes made by or directed to characters that come and go, and come and go, and come and go...and generally have nothing to do with anything...
Yes, there are a few themes thrown into the mix, but everything that is not the next (mostly funny and mainly due to Nico's accent) joke, takes a backseat and has no real bearing on the characters and plot.
I admit, i laughed a few times, so it's ok i guess, i've seen movies with worse writing, though i've played games with (much, much) better.
