Forums - Microsoft - X360 Triple threat of GTA4 DLC, Star Ocean 4, Halo Wars vs KZ2

@RayRay

An RTS is niche, don't be stupid. C'mon, you can do better than DLC and a JRPG that won't release in the same region and time as KZ2.

but the thing is Killzone 2 isn't that hyped.

not as much as MGS4, GTA 4 or even LBP was

the mass audience doesn't know or care about it

True, but Killzone 2 is a full blood FPS. If it wasn't for SO4 and RE5, I'd be getting it first week.

Down the line though will you be getting it? Shooters have online and that gives them legs, Killzone 2 comes from an unproven franchise so that one will definitely not be front loaded. Halo Wars will be though, people are hyping SO4 a little too much on the internet and are going to step back into reality when they see the numbers for that game. GTA DLC will do well but it is $20, people are not going to have to choose between that and a fully priced game.

What's the FPS traffic on the ps3...?

So an RTS, a JRPG, and a downloadable content pack, versus...quite possibly the most hyped PS3 game to date? Star Ocean 4 would be lucky to hit a million, and calling the DLC pack a game or anything close to it is pathetic. It's not like either would be in competition with Killzone 2 anyways even if they were significant. Halo Wars could be a decent threat, but Sony had much more deadly titles in holiday season '08 and they fell flat on their faces. And Microsoft comes around with their niche games and they think they're a threat to Killzone 2?

I remeber all the PS3 fanboys keep saying all the 360 has is FPS. Now the system has diversity and you call them niche titles. Haha, you are funny man. Wll, guess what? KZ2 is a FPS...

Umm, it doesn't matter. The 360 has always had diversity just like any other system, even from its launch. Just because the titles are diversified doesn't mean they're popular or are going to be popular. Shooters, Racers, and Platformers are big genres. RTSs, JRPGs, and random downloadable content packs that aren't actually games are not. You're funny. Killzone 2 is an FPS, I'm glad you're able to recognize genres. I suppose you should get a cookie, considering your kinds words as well.

P.S. Whatever happened to Ninja Blade? Is that no longer a threatening title now that everyone knows it will be average?

Ninja Blade is a mid-march title, its too far away from KZ2. GTA:LAD is a 10 hour expansion.

If you can play it, its a game. SImple as that. The fact that you think its not a game is laughable. And its packing the GTA name, and thats a BIG name, far bigger then the name Killzone.

I see a bit of a contradiction there, you say Halo Wars could be a threat but then you say it's niche.

Name is big genra is niche for consoles............extremely niche.

 Probably, especially depending on reviews.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

That's true, it's one of those games which is hard to predict. I consider Killzone 2 hard to predict too, given the immense amount of internet hype which may not translate to real world attention (see Zack & Wiki for a good example, although the hype is bigger here of course).

As many people are saying Killzone 2 was never going to be a big system seller, fanboys on gaming sites say it will be and then we have a snowball affect. If these 360 games were competing against a real system seller such as GT5 then that would be another story.

In that story GT5 would wipe the floor with those three games :P

In Europe anyway. I wonder what emdollarsign will do to combat that when the time comes.

NJ5: Umm, no. That's why I used the word "could." It's a game in a niche genre but it's definitely a big series. We can only wait and see.

Whatever makes you happy I guess. The 360 has way more FPS goodness already, I am glad they are giving their fans more games in different genre. Also, speaking of FPS, since that is a MAJOR GENRE, the nimber one shooter is Halo ODST in 2009, I don't think KZ2 even come close to 1/4 in sales to that game. So please, have fun with KZ2 until the next big hype exclusive comes out.

How do you even know Ninja Blade will be avg??? It could be or it could be great, the game is not even out yet. I can say the same thing to Infamous.
