Forums - Gaming Discussion - FPS : better on a PC or console ?

PC is better....

people saying otherwise never really played both a PC FPS and a console FPS to the end.... (trying 4-5 hours is not enough to familiarise and appreciate the controls...)

the only thing that is better on consoles is the local multiplayer (can't beat that on PC) and the fact that coop games really only came by recently.... there were some before but rare....

I prefer the console FPS's but I really dfont have a probelm playing PC FPS's they both seem natural.

Wii FPS > All

I play both. It depends. The games that are made for PC should be played on PC, and the games made on Consoles should be played on a console. If a game is on both, play what you are better at. There's no need to whine about controls, get better!

Hi, this is Vince with Shamwow.

Why do you all just mention Halo, almost no other. That game was made for console, then ported to PC.

Anyway on topic, its Keyboard/Mouse > Wii remote/nunchuk >>> xbox/ps/gc/whatever controllers.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

PC -> 360 -> wii.

I agree.

PC is better not only for FPS. There are many genres that a way better on PC then on a console. FPS, RTS, ARPG and so on.

For RTS, theres no contest although I would contest it has a lot to do with the fact that RTS games on the PC have gotten exceedingly and over complicated.

For FPS I would give the torch to the dual analogue setup or the Wiimote (Wii performance does let the console down here more than the interface)

I used to be an exclusive PC gamer, but once I got used to the different interface I found that I preferred the analogue sticks. I still have an up to date PC but that 8800gt in my PC is used to render those annoying Vgchartz flash advertisments more than games nowadays.

I feel the controllers are more realistic, and I like the tactile feedback I get from the controllers. I dislike the ultra-accuracy of the mouse because to me accuracy != fun, it feels like you're an 80 pound gymnast when games like Killzone 2 or Halo 3 can deliver what feels to me like a realistic response to your inputs. I especially hate the keyboard interface, but really I like everything on a PS3 or 360 controller more than the PC keyboard and mouse interface.

Furthermore I work on a PC every day almost and when I want to game, the last think I want to do is sit at another desk and play games! I want to relax, and you cannot do that with a PC. I even went as far as to upgrade my HTPC to use an Xbox 360 controller but the mouse or keyboard really don't work on a couch so I relented and played games on the consoles instead.

Tease.

Console gaming is more accessible, less trouble prone, making it much better "plug and play'". PC gaming usually looks better, and mouse aiming is far more precise. You can also throw the mod factor in.

As for what is better, depends on what you value more.

This is my point.  Ultra-accuracy != good gameplay/fun.  I am quite adept at both control schemes and do not prefer one over the other.  I have absolutely no problem whatsoever in killing anything in either dual analog or keyboard mouse.  So what does it matter to me?  It doesn't.  I go where the fun is.
