offcourse MS wont drop the price if PS3 doesnt drop. Theyll wait for Sony to act first.

Instead of dropping by $100 at once, Sony could do it in two steps, forcing MS to choose between reacting only once or firing two of its last price drop cartridges.

In the unlikely event there are two PS3 price cuts this year the first one will be small, so I don't think MS will be too worried about only cutting prices in Christmas.

I agree, nevertheless doing so Sony could start gathering some fruits without losing too much. I agree too that as things stand for economy and particularly for the company, if choosing this strategy, it should do a smaller cut first and a bigger one before Xmas, for a total of $100. But maybe the same effectiveness(*) could be achieved with less cost doing only one cut, but at the last possible moment, to leave little or no time at all to MS to plan a reaction. What a shame, the next months will be boring in this case...

(*) And we're talking only about the issue of trying to counter MS' counter-measures, obviously Sony won't plan a possible cut with only this in mind.
