Forums - Sony - Star Ocean: Second Evolution thread

Well, I'm about 2 hours in and loving this game so far. Anyone else got it? For being part of Sqeenix's remake-old-games-4-PSP scheme, this one is by far the best of the remakes so far.

Everything about it seems much better then First Departure, especially the VOs(they do need a little work, but Rena is actually one of the first non-annoying sounding JRPG heroine's in a remake JRPG I've played in a while. It stands to reason though; her voice is the same one as Estelle from Tales of vesperia, so its kinda granted that its gonna be perfect. :P

So anyone else got this game? What are you thinking of it so far?

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Did they fix the retarded battle system that was in the PS1 version?

Man stay away from the first one. Even the die-hard Star Ocean fanboy in me didn't like that one. They aren't sequential anyway, so it won't affect the second one any.

But yeah, there are alot of games coming out in the next few months...eh, save this one for a rainy day then =P. But as far as PSP JRPGs go, this is up there.

Damn it, I really want to give it a try now :D Too bad I bought tales of eternia only a few days ago!

I've been thinking about picking up SO2. I enjoyed SO3, but I'm not too sure. Does the Star Ocean franchise have a huge plot that makes it so I HAVE to get the first two? Cause I'd like to skip out on 1, but if I end up missing out on this story... >_>

Currently playing: Marvel vs. Capcom 3, League of Legends

Not really :/

They're interelated in that they are all based in the same universe, but they are pretty stand-alone-ish. They don't have the same characters or anything, and hardly even have the same planets. :P

@Tremble: Awesome choice. I'm stuck on a part in the game where you can click the hint button and all Keele syas is "We need to comb all the hot spots." I can't for the life of me remember what I'm supposed to do there.

Allthough I'm a bit more of a Tales fanboy then Star Ocean one, I gotta say both Eternia and Second Evolution are on pretty similar footing for me at this point in awesomeness.
