Square Enix has posted a Final Fantasy XIII countdown clock on its web site. A vexing gambit that often teases fans to the point of insanity, countdown clocks can be one of the most annoying weapons in a publisher's arsenal. There are very few games where this technique will work. Most (rational) gamers would ignore a countdown clock for Voodoo Vince 2, but for Final Fantasy XIII, they'll gladly wait for the news. The text on the site reads:

I've contacted Square Enix for an official comment, which will probably be along the lines of "no comment". I'll post an update if I hear anything back.

What do you think Square Enix will announce? Considering that the game won't be out in America until April 2010 at the earliest, do you even care to be teased in January 2009? Or you thrilled to get any FFXIII info you can?

your annoyed by a countdown clock? seriously there are tons for developers that use countdown clocks to the date of information being revealed or an official website being openned.
