Forums - Sony - Is the Orange Box really that bad of a port for the PS3?

I got it at launch I think, Team Fortress didn't work online at all. EA servers just didn't work, tried the thing where you make a new account and log in but that didn't work.

Everything else in the game worked fine, great games. Actually preferred playing half life 2 on my Ps3 than my PC mainly because of sitting on my nice and comfy sofa and looking at a huge HD tv :D

PC is obviously better. But if you can live with console controls the biggest problem against the 360 version are the load times. Everything else is tolerable on the PS3. I had very few framerate problems although they exist. The game looks pretty good. But on some occasions esp. when you die a lot the loading time is annoying beyond belief. GRRRR. If you can live with that its pretty decent.

Only played without the patch on PS3.

Outdoor areas were pretty choppy which at times did affect playability but other than this it was fine.

Worth getting just for Portal

Just started playing this 3 days ago and pretty happy with it. Only played HL2 so far and it feels a bit like RE4 if that makes sense. Not played PC version so can't comment on that but is that necessary - as a stand-alone product I am happy with my £18 investment...

No, the majority of the problems were fixed by the patch. Both console versions are crap compared to the PC version though

this.

Consider this Tripled.

Just curious, how does the PS3 version patched compare to the 360 version? Are the load times the only difference?

I guess you've never played F.E.A.R. for the PS3

Favorite films. Foreign films forever!

Both console versions are crap, but that's because Valve are PC first, 360 if they feel like it, and PS3 if Neptune crosses its orbit with Jupiter... EA had to do the PS3 port...

Anyways, i already had Half-Life, both episodes were meh to me, and i never liked TF (leave me with Quake), but the amazing Portal made it all worth...

What wrong with F.E.A.R. for PS3,  I own it and had no problems with that game at all

Basically identical,  I think the PS3 version has slightly longer load times but dont qoute me on that.
