Well, the reason VGC doesn't track total PS2 software LTD sales is that the site was founded about a month before the 360 cam out

Well that works out pretty good actually, we have the numbers from Sony up until March 31, 2007, and the PS2 software/harware has always been tracked on this website ever since it began (2005) so if someone (I might do it if I get bored enough) just started adding up the numbers week after week after March 31 07, then we'd have a very good guesstimate of what the number is, then we could just go by that number each week from now on, right?

Not really... they are two totally differnt figures.

The site you linked to refers to "production shipments" which is actually before the discs are even shipped to stores. The numbers here are purely sales, but not only that, we are missing a lot of figures for older games that are still selling, or obscure games released recently.... this is the same with the other consoles as well, but it still stops us getting anything definate.

And so, we guess.

Basically the total is almost assuredly somewhere between 1.4 and 1.5 billion units.
