what's so good about valkyria chronicles? Here's some of the things that I enjoyed about the game:
- amazing visuals. From the moment the intro scene started I was in awe of the water colour style graphics and lovely art direction. One of the most beautiful games of this gen in my opinion.
- endearing characters and story. However, some of the characters and plot elements seemed a little too far fetched for my liking but on the whole it was a story with alot of heart and was well executed.
- unique gameplay. I have not played anything like valkyria chronicles and was immediately drawn into the gameplay. Hard to explain what was so appealing about it but the fact that it mixed strategy with real-time action definitely helped. Also, the ps3 has VERY few RPGs and the fact that you can level up your units, develop new weapons and swap characters in and out of your squad and even 'buy' new commands appealed to me alot.
- It's long. I still haven't finished the game and I'm just under 30 hours of game time already. Granted I've only got 2 more missions to complete but this is a game that you can really sink your teeth in. It won't be shelved after 12 hours like so many other games (dead space I'm looking at you!).
