because everywhere in the world has the same types of animals readily available?  eating meat is stupid and pointless.  you dont need it at all.  YOU are murdering thousands of innocent animals.

well its a good thing that seal populations in canada are increasing then, isnt it...  

so if seals were made into hamburgers and sold to you at mcdonalds you would be having a fit about someone bieng demonic for killing a cow in some other part of the world

Have you taken the time to educate yourself on this subject yet?  If not we can start with something that you asked.

Oils - They can be used for heating, and the fact that humans have managed to move to a using a non-renewable resource for heating means that we will run out.  There is nothing wrong with using renewable resources for this, things like trees and blubbers make excellent fuels for heat.

Furs - Also a renewable resource, and the fact that we use synthetic materials is probably worse for the environment and causes more harm then using furs from animals.

Food - This is a needed for all human life and as I have currently stated before, after western civilization nearly wiped out all the Inuit and Native from these parts of Canada, a vital part of the ecosystem was changed.  Now we are needed to regulate the population of Seals since there is no longer humans hunting seals for a way to live.  So every year the commercial seal hunt occurs, the Canadian government does surveys to determine the current population of seals and releases a quota of how many seals need to be hunted to regulate the population.  The stability of the seal population works in turn to stabalize the fish population in the North Atlantic Ocean, which works in turn to stabalize everything else in the ecosystem.  Anything changing this balance (i.e. high seal populations), would create something very similar to other unregulated ecosystems that go through cyclical changes of up and down population growth (most deaths is caused by starvation and disease).  Now since this particular ecosystem has been at this state for centuries, humans leaving the picture could cause serious issues in the ecosystem worst case being extinction of several species of fish, plant life, lobsters, etc.

 

Is there any other legitimate questions you have about the seal hunt?  And to correct you (again) the commercial seal hunt cannot harvast baby seals, its illegal.

And also consider this. If we didn't hunt the seals, they'd overpopulate and exhaust their food supply and simply starve to death in a few years. In both scenarios seals die, but there's also fish for the people in the region.
