Why do I feel I would prefer a "Seal Clubber" get a death sentance rather than someone that killed a man ...

Well if start taking non-human life = human life, why not target mass murderers, genociders, etc.

Tree = alive

Paper = dead

Lumberjack = murder

Cockroach in your house = alive

Cockroach swept into the garbage after being gassed = dead

Exterminator = mass murder

Rat on a farm = alive

Dead rat in Alberta from rat hunt = dead

Albertans = genociders

Does this sound stupid, I would hope so.

Rats and Cockroach are hardly the same as seals, besides they're pests.

Right! You are so right. Rat's and Roaches have such small brains the only things they probably know how to do is eat and breed. Comparing a Seal to a pest is terrible, and is the worst example I've seen posted in this thread so far.

i thought you posting a little girls homework was much worse.

You have just listed three of the same source. All on POLAR BEARS!?

I think this debate, if you could call it that, should really end right now. You are making arguments on things you have done no research on, demonizing people you do not even know.

The sources I am looking for? I thought it to be clear. That clubbing seals is found to be more painful or less humaine than that of a slughter house and that harp seals are still being killed as regular practice. Of course, this source should come from somewhere credible as was the one I provided from the DFO.

Okay lets let the eating issue go for a second.. People eat to survive.. Do we really need oils, furs, blubbers and whatever?

Have you taken the time to educate yourself on this subject yet?  If not we can start with something that you asked.

Oils - They can be used for heating, and the fact that humans have managed to move to a using a non-renewable resource for heating means that we will run out.  There is nothing wrong with using renewable resources for this, things like trees and blubbers make excellent fuels for heat.

Furs - Also a renewable resource, and the fact that we use synthetic materials is probably worse for the environment and causes more harm then using furs from animals.

Food - This is a needed for all human life and as I have currently stated before, after western civilization nearly wiped out all the Inuit and Native from these parts of Canada, a vital part of the ecosystem was changed.  Now we are needed to regulate the population of Seals since there is no longer humans hunting seals for a way to live.  So every year the commercial seal hunt occurs, the Canadian government does surveys to determine the current population of seals and releases a quota of how many seals need to be hunted to regulate the population.  The stability of the seal population works in turn to stabalize the fish population in the North Atlantic Ocean, which works in turn to stabalize everything else in the ecosystem.  Anything changing this balance (i.e. high seal populations), would create something very similar to other unregulated ecosystems that go through cyclical changes of up and down population growth (most deaths is caused by starvation and disease).  Now since this particular ecosystem has been at this state for centuries, humans leaving the picture could cause serious issues in the ecosystem worst case being extinction of several species of fish, plant life, lobsters, etc.

Is there any other legitimate questions you have about the seal hunt?  And to correct you (again) the commercial seal hunt cannot harvast baby seals, its illegal.

Do we really need Seal Oil? We have Vegtable Oil, Olive oil and so on. It's un needed, it's just an excuse to hunt IMO.

Do we need seal fur? Used multed bird feathers, or maybe even cotton?

Food again, go cut a hole in the ice and catch a fish or eat something else. it's just like me saying WOW LOOK AT THAT STRAY DOG ON THE STREET. Are you hungry go eat it.

So how are you supposed to catch enough fish to feed 100 people, when that same fish population is now feeding more seals.  I'm saying that if the seal population would be allowed to grow uncontrollably, there would be no fish in that hole.  The bigger problem I'm referring to is that the commercial Canadian seal hunt is in Eastern Canada (not in the barren arctic region), and the seals hunted actually live off the east coast of Canada.  This part of the ocean is the largest fishery location in the world (unless this has changed it may be factual inaccurate), so what would happen to the many people that primarily eat fish in their diets, mainly directed at North East US and Eastern Canada.

Inuit are the only people that NEED seal oil and fur, but do you NEED your computer, TV, house, electricity, car/truck, etc.  Humans do not neeed 99% of the things they consume, but our civilization has moved forward to make our lives easier.  Even looking at your examples, using seals would be one of the ways to not cause an increase in food prices.

Also addressing the hunting part, they are not hunting seals for sport.  This is a commercial industry, these people hunt seals for their job, would it make you happy to put this people out of work.  The Inuit also do not hunt for sport, they hunt for survival.

If you knew anything about seals you would know they have so many predators like sharks, polar bears, walrus's and so on, and with them they can thin out the population rather than just idiots coming with baseball bats. I stopped reading after that first sentence....

There's a reason I posted a polar bear source. It has to do with something a few pages ago. They tried to tell me Polar bears are not endangered while infact polar bears are very threatened and they can face endangerment.

Do you even know where the Canadian commercial seal hunt takes place?  Last time I checked there are no polar bears or walruses living in that region.  If I'm not mistaken, there are also no large sharks living there (there may also be no sharks that feed on seals as well).

Now I may be way off base here if you are referring to a seal hunt that is occuring outside of the annual Canadian seal hunt, but if you are clarify the issue at hand so I can target your points better.  Now if you are talking about the Canadian seal hunt, you are using so many factual errors that I will not respond to you again until you acknowledge them.

How is a seal comparable to a dog? A dog is a domesticated animal. A part of many peoples everyday life.

No, we donèt really need any of the things you listed. Likewise, we donèt need chicken nor beef either with all of the supplements today. So unless you are a vegan, I really do not understand how you think you have a leg to stand on?

Seal's are more common in the arctic than a dog, and they are all over like dogs. They are just strays.

You are right we don't need those foods, but sea food is different from beef and chicken.

Arctic?? Do you honestly think the seal hunt takes place mainly in the arctic? Secondly, the hunts that normally are carried out in the arctic are done so by the Innu, and they unquestionably have every right to that hunt.

Could you please explain the difference between seafood and beef? There is reasonable evidence out there that fish do feel pain.

I'm not fighting anymore.

I still think Seal Clubbers are whacko nut jobs, you don't, oh well. That's your business.

Mark my words with the amount of people protesting about this thing, it has to stop soon Maybe not this year, maybe not next year, but this satanic slaughter has to end soon.
