@Spectrumglr:
Reeves from SCEE said that there "were only a small number left in the channel (particularly in the UK)" two weeks ago so by now there should be even less PS3s.

probably they've been stuffing the channel in Verona and left the rest of EU without console 0_°...if someone wants a PS3 just tell me: i'll show you at least 5 places in my city where to find a MGS4 (we-give-you-for-439€-a-ps3-with-no-back-compatibility-and-no-dual-shock-but-you'll-save 20€-on-MGS4) bundle...uh, someone should tell this to Reeves: they could solve their problems

Wii has picked up a lot in Italy, might pass PS3 LTD in July as PS3 is supply constrained from Sony clearing the channel of 40Gb before 80Gb introduction.

@allergic

Probably more to do with decreased PS3 sales than increased 360 sales. Not really any reason for 360 sales to increase right now, but we know there's a reason for PS3 sales to decrease.

what reason? in US maybe...in Italy that's not the case. If you came in Italy i'd show you that IF there's a console that's difficult to find that's not the PS3. Wii are really difficult to see in the wild...and x360 aren't easily spotted too (you have to consider that in Italy gaming is equal to Playstation: every shop that sells elctronics has a PS3 while the same can't be said for x360).

There are tons of MSG4 bundles on the shelves if that's is you concern.

40Gb is being discontinued, SCEE have said themselves stocks are low in Europe until 80Gb gets released . It's quite possible for there to be more stock in your area than others.

Anyway, we will see in July's numbers whether 360 outselling PS3 is due to increased 360 sales or decreased PS3 sales.

MGS4 bundle availability in your town is really of no concern to me.

Italian MGS4 bundle availability in your town is really of no concern to me.

ok, but probably the fact that in Italy distribution of consoles isn't the same for PS3 and x360 should be of your concern...you can find Ps3 even in supermarkets that usually sell food along with consumer electronics (ie. no-brand/cheap DVD players, razors, blenders etc. etc.) while in order to find a x360' you have to go either in more specialized shops or in really big malls.

So another couple of weeks and Wii might pass PS3 in Italy.

Edit... wait, hang on... these are monthly numbers not weekly right?

Hardware June Italy (2 June 2008 at 29 June2008)
1 NDS 147.500
2 WII 59.500
3 PSP 50.500
4 PS3 30.000
5 PS2 24.500
6 360 14.500

So in another couple of months Wii could pass PS3

^ Could be this month if PS3 sales dropped and Wii sales remained stable.

no excuse. Ps3 is in stock in italy in every shop. Xbox360 is growing i think.maybe due to piracy

Every shop in Italy? You have better coverage than GfK Italia!

just roam italian VG forums...no one is talking about PS3 shortage.

I've just another explaination: ps3 at this price point has simply satured a market weakened by other priorities (you know: they call them holidays) and only very few are willing to spend 400€ in summer over a gaming console...in September (back to school period) things will change and (rest assured) will go back to normality (PS3>ps2>x360) but for now i simply think that PS3 suffers this season more than x360 due to its higher price point. Really: to me there's no shortage issue in Italy. Nevertheless passing a playstation console even for a few weeks is a great achievement for x360 considering how this market is playstation-centric...and btw the wii passing ps3 in total sales is simply amazing.

So basically we should expect a large boost for 360 in GfK's July numbers, but why would 360 suddenly get such a boost in the quitest period of the year with no major releases and no price cut?
