Thanks Prosugno.

Big month for Wii hardware in April, it might catch 360 soon, but 360 should get a GTA IV boost in May.

Yup, thanks Pro

As expected Wii sales improved vastly in April. It is its third month of very high growth (was 90% in March and 72% for February). GTA4 didn't increase HD consoles' sales a lot but at least they didn't drop as hard as NDS, PSP and PS2.

This month changes:
NDS: - 25.5%
Wii: + 40.7%
PSP: - 10.8%
PS3: + 7.0%
PS2: - 28.8%
X360: - 8.6%

30,604

Comparison seems to show DS being overtracked.

Although if someone could explain the 90% thing again I would apreciate it, do the GfK figures represent only 90% of the market, or are they 100% but based on extrapolations from tracking 90%?

If it is the former (numbers only represent 90%) then VGC was spot on with all hardware but DS/Wii...a little high on DS and low for Wii. (for April anyway)

If the latter then all consoles are a little higher (but not worryingly so as it might be a date issue or a wave effect like VGC was lower for March and is now higher for April) although DS is then alarmingly high.

GTA IV wasn't released in this period. It will be in May's data.

@BKK: Oh, I made a mistake. GTA4 launch week was covered in April NPD data so I thought it was the same in Italy. But you're right, it's only up to 27th of April, so we'll see GTA4 effect next month.

@TWRo0

Those numbers are non-extrapolated. We should get extrapolated numbers tomorrow. The exact percentage varies depending on console, so these aren't exact but rough extrapolated LTDs will be somewhere around:

PS2: 5,356,000
NDS: 2,103,000
PSP: 1,154,000
PS3: 487,000
360: 401,000
Wii: 379,000
