Saw this before... two wrongs don't make a right, 36 years is too long, he's going to come out worse than when he went in, plus he will be a burden to tax payers - the best bet would be execution or torture...
Honestly I'd hope that torture could be used in place of extensive jail time or execution... like removal of portions of the intestinal track without anything to numb the pain and just enough of a dosage to prevent fainting. Of course this is only the case when someone is a repeat offender and is proven guilty beyond the reason of doubt.
But 36 years is worse than torture; it's hopelessness. That boy has no hope left, unless he can get good behavior or appeal.
The girl should of been tried as an adult and again torture or permanent disfigurement would be applied. She didn't get off light but in perspective she got a slap on the wrist compared to him.
@noname, it probably had more to do with a good public defender than anything else, the boy could of gotten off near scott free if he had pleaded temporary insanity, intoxication and video games could of lead to a kind of high that would be unforseeable, it wouldn't be premeditated due to the time it took for the act to be commited, no time to consider what was being done. Instead they seemed to go for neglicant homicide and harming a minor then out of concience I'm guessing they pleaded guilty to avoid a harsher sentance... The dumbass probably pleaded guilty to save his girl friend... It's not my case though so I really am just taking shots at the dark.
