Forums - Sony - ps3 owners, what would you consider losing this generation?

...well the question isn't if Sony lost this generation. The question is now, has Sony destroyed the Playstation brand beyond repair. It doesn't matter if Sony starts, today, to have the best games on any platform as exclusives and stomps the Xbox 360 into 3rd place for the rest of this generation. Sony went from a resoundingly first place finish to a dismal 3rd place company that is on the verge of financial disaster. They have also saddled the customer with the most appalling addon ever in an attempt to further another industry at the cost of the Playstation brand, and gamers in general.

Sony is morally reprehensible, to say the least. Business minded decisions always hurt the most when they come from those you love. Even if you don't freely admit that Sony has already irrevocably lost this generation in every way possible, it's impossible to pretend that they've actually won anything, in the past few years. The company has the most inept and traditional management in the business world, and they stand as a shining example of how not to run a business. There are better managed lemonade stands.

1. Nintendo bounced back from the N64's sidelining and the Gamecube's failure for traction. No reason why a PS4 couldn't be a comeback for Sony.

2. Blu-ray is appalling why exactly? Oh, it's not.

3. Good heavens, a company is trying to make money. Scandalous.

4. Blu-ray?

assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

Sony leaving the console market?

Why couldn't the PS3 last for 10 years?

The PS2 lasted for 8 years and it was far less prepared for the future than the PS3.

PSN ID= bigdaddymoo

MSI GT725-074 owner..... TRUE BEAST.. COD4 is a different game on PC.

Sony lost before they released a console, they lost this generation back when the PS2 was still running strong.

Their Blu Ray/Cell decisions may still cost them 2nd, thats still debatable but winning was never an option against a console which could have crushed their best (PS2) had they gone head to head.

Tease.

We need some objective thing like sales to judge who 'wins' and who 'loses', because if we just say
'whichever has the most games you enjoy won the generation' then the GC won last generation for me.

So yeah, the PS3 is losing this generation, but perhaps it's not all that important whether you win or lose

As a PS3 owner I am not going to lose or win anything in this console war. I have already bought the console and keep buying games for it.

What for Sony - they have already lost since it's pretty obvious PS3 will end up being in the 3rd place by the end of this gen.

not getting quality games from Sony's first party would be considered loosing this gen.

Invalid comparison.

You just can't juxtapose things from different generations, e.g. Pele vs. Ronaldinho.

# Wise, Playstation loses this gen. Funfactor wise, far from it. I disagree with you Squilliam about if the PS2 had gone head to head with the Wii, the PS2 would've been crushed, I doubt that. Crazy thing tho, we'll never know.

OT: As a PS3 owner, no I don't feel like a loser. The Playstation, itself, will lose this gen, but you never know what might happen, remember: N64 = loss/but profit. Gamecube = loss/but profit. Wii = holy shit a BIG WINNER!!! If PS3 turns profit in 09, which it should, Sony could be poised to return next gen with a winning: Sony Playstation 4. But that remains to be seen.

The PS1 crushed two weakened competitors and the PS2 really didn't have much competition at all. This is the first generation where the PS line faced a real competitor, so whilst the PS3 may even be better than the PS2 it didn't improve enough from generation to generation to stave off the new threats. This generation was always going to be closer, but the Wii saw to it that the PS3 was cut off at the knees.
