Wait, the games that have sold the most consistently over the longest period of time are the faddish games? Maybe you should think about what fad means.

BTFeather55 said: What it will come down to over this 6 year period is the games on the Wii and PS3. I still think that you are going to see less sales for second and especially starting with the third games in series such as Wii Sports, Play, Music, Fit, as later installments won't really have much room for improvement over the earlier entries and Nintendo is going to have to rely on real games like Zelda and Mario at some point, but the PS3 will have many times the amazing games that the Wii is bringing to the market. This will create a Gamecube versus PS2 environment between later Wii games and later PS3 games or perhaps a better example is a PSP versus DS environment and as much of last year showed, the PSP was dominating the DS in Japan right up to the introduction of the DSi (Wii 2) last year. And last week the PSP beat the regular DS by 40,000 units in Japan. What this sets up is a scenario where the Wii has managed to use a few faddish games to build up an early lead (much like the DS with Brain Training and Nintendogs); however, over the long haul when more traditional types of games are the ones dominating the market again, the PS3 will show how much better these games are on the PS3 than on the Wii and the PS3 will be routinely whipping the Wii towards the end of the generation pretty much the way the PSP does the standard DS. Except it will be on a more global basis as the PS3 will get the best support of the two consoles from both Western and Eastern developers. That translates into only about a 35-40% chance that the PS3 won't overtake the Wii by the time the PS4 is released.

WTF? Does reality play any part in your writings?

Actually, the games that have sold the most over the past two years have been the faddish games. But if you look back over the course of gaming's history games in the more traditional genres: platformers, action adventure, rpg, shooters, fighers, racers, sports games have sold many times the amount of games that Wii Sports (whose sales can easily be discounted as its a pack-in), have sold many times more copies than the totals for Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Wii Music have. Also, if you look at the numbers for current games in tradional genres on the PS3 versus the same games on the Wii, the PS3 has been dominating or holding its own against the Wii in most of them. Uncharted > No More Heroes, Ratchet and Clank Future > Okami, Resistance > Metroid Prime 3.
Heavens to Murgatoids.
Damn, I think we found someone crazzier than Crazzyman as impossible as that may sound.

Yes, for most of 2008, the PSP whipped the DS in Japan and the PSP was close to 70,000 there last week while the standard DS didn't even beat the PS3 (DS = 22,000; PS3 = 29,000)

I'm not even going to argue with you. I can't win against a reality distortion machine.

This is merely preparation for any backlash. Are you serious? You trying to be funny?
Uncharted > No More Heroes, Ratchet and Clank Future > Okami, Resistance > Metroid Prime 3 = funny
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Here's the figures Wii versus PS3 games in traditional genres I looked them up since you seemed to be questioning their veracity:
Action Adventures
Uncharted (PS3) 2.5 million
No More Heroes (Wii) 0.39 million
Platformer vs. Adventure
Little Big Planet (PS3 -- Platformer) 1.89 Million
Ratchet and Clank Future (PS3 -- Platformer) 1.57 million
Zack and Wiki (Wii -- Adventure) 0.54 million
Okami (Wii -- Adventure) .19 million
Shooter Versus Shooter
Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3) 3.51 million
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii) 1.49 million
RPG
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (Wii) (released in both Japan and US) -- 0.42 million
White Knight Chronicles (PS3) (released only in Japan) -- 0.31 million
Heavens to Murgatoids.
I already surrendered, you win! Only the PS3 has games that sell. The Wii has no games that sell. The DS is being outsold because it's low tech. You win!

The five stages of Grief
3. Bargaining - Attempting to make deals or rationalizations with the matters in question, or attempting to make deals with God to stop or change the loss. Begging, wishing, praying for them to come back.
@BTFeather55
I'm so tempted to try and bring rationality to your posts in a response of my own, but you're clearly a Rank S elite of the Sony Defense Force and thereby not one to try and be reasoned with. Though, do call me when Ratchet & Clank outsells Super Mario Galaxy, White Knight's Chronicles outsells Monster Hunter 3, GT5 or Motorstorm outsells Mario Kart Wii or Tekken 6 outsells Super Smash Bros Brawl. lol Because I can garantee you, none of the above will ever happen.
