Im a big fan of the noir style, be it movies or books. Its always got a certain air of cynicism about it, which appeals to me at some level. So when i got into graphic novels, reading Sin City was an easy decision, and i loved it. Well, not all of it, but some of the "yarns" were pretty fantastic( The hard goodbye, That yellow bastard). Overall, it was an impressive piece of work, and like nothing i had read before.
Then, over the past week, a friend highly recommended a running series called 100 bullets. He was also kind enough to provide me with all the issues released yet, and i must say, im blown away.98 issues up, and i can say the only other two reasonably sized series' which have impressed me more are Sandman, and the Frank Miller run of DareDevil. The characters are fleshed out brilliantly, the plot has miraculously managed to stay intriguing for nearly 100 chapters without letting up once. This, i believe, is comics noir at its best.
So, those who have read both, discuss which one is better. And those who could recommend some other series in the same genre, please go right ahead.
