40% is very good, but last November's price cut was the entire reason for that growth. If you want compare "with no price cut", you can only compare November and December. Both months were down year-over-year.
However, this week's sales look good for the PS3. The 360 outsold it by a much smaller margin compared to the last few weeks. (I see a 28% advantage for the 360 this week, compared to 32% the week before, and 67% the week before that. That's a huge difference.)
