Forums - Sony - NPD: PS3 sales up 40% YOY in US

I think with no price cut 40% in US is very good.

http://www.videogaming247.com/2009/01/16/december-npd-ps3-sales-up-40-y-o-y/

what do you guys think?

would a price cut help the growth this year or the decline in DEC will continue?

This makes me a mite happier now

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

That's for the whole year. December sales are actually down over last December.

Which, yes, is very bad.

YoY increase good, decline in holiday sales, very very bad.

it's bad but it's only 8% decline ,,and that's cause no price cut where the competition did cut the price and advertised 20000000 times more.

Let's hope PS3 gets a price cut,,,,it is the most Expensive gaming console in history of gaming given it's 2 yeas and 2 months old

40% increase YoY due mainly to the second biggest PS3 exclusive launch this generation in MGS 4 helped a little. GT 5 Prologue also helped a bit with PS3 sales earlier in 2008. GT 5 will be the biggest PS3 exclusive in terms of both PS3 hardware and software sales and it will be released late 2009 or early 2010.

Err 2007 up until November was terrible...

$600 price vs $400 price...

Is anyone actually forgetting that?

Lets be positive... Price cut or not lets hope the trend continues and we see the following sales this year

Wii - 16.2 M (60%)
360 - 4.88 M (3%)
PS3 - 4.95 M (40%)

it hold up nicely for a 400$ console, after a year.

now if we compare 360 sales at the 400$ price point. >_>
