If you were behind him doing 67 that means he was going just as fast therefore he was breaking the law as well since it does not appear to be going to an emergency.... if you were in the U.S. and had a good lawyer you can get this dropped, but depending on how many points you have it might not be financially worth it to bother.

This is not quite true. Police can be responding to an emergency, and they keep their lights/sirens off if they are going down a road with no trafic. The idea is to not disturb people. If they see someone in front of them, they then turn their lights/siren on. The ambulance and fire trucks do the same exact thing. However, does that mean the cop should be going 67 down the road without his lights, probably not. Of course, this can be different state by state.

Now, since he stopped, he may have radioed in, or he may not have been responding to an emergency. Either way, it doesn't excuse you for following him at such speeds.

Also, with a good lawyer you can get pretty much any speeding ticket dropped, despite the situation, however, you'll probably end up doubling how much you pay now, but depending on how the points work out and your age, you may save on drivers insurance in the long run.

Anyways, the worst I got was for driving 72 in a 55 on my motorcycle. I didn't have my liscense, only my permit (and my car liscense). The cop threatened to impound my bike, but then just gave me a driving out of class ticket, which is almost as bad as a speeding ticket, but cheaper by about $100. But in NY the whole motorcycle liscensing is a joke. You just have to do a figure 8, and a u-turn. The problem, is that you can't just show up. You have to have a truck to drive the bike away in if you fail, and you have to have a second motorcycle liscensed driver. Most NY residents can't get both conditions met, go down to the test site without knowing any better, and then get turned away and told they can't get a liscense. Probably 80% of the riders I know in NY ride illegally for 1-2 years before getting their liscense.
