I was talking about people's expectations (see the article's title), not what developers will actually do... It's pretty obvious that most developers won't be making KZ2-level graphics on the PS3.

 

 

But as you can see, quite of PS3 exclusives this year are on par or above Killzone 2 graphically ie Heavy Rain, GT5, Uncharted 2, maybe even God of War 3 ( have to see)

Aren't these all 1st/2nd party titles, and also not the same genre as KZ2?

It seems this debate is going around in circles.

 

Yes that is correct, I said Exclusives would make the difference not multiplat. and what BIG 3rd party exclusive does Ps3 have excluding MGS4? I agree this debate is making me dizzy

i think multi-plat are on par these days. they ahve to be. if all they do is port shoddy xbox games to the ps3 they wont sell, and they'll know it was someone elses fault when ppl complain about their game. this year will define the ps3 without a doubt.

Seriously thought, can't wait to see what companies can do with 60 million dollars on the xbox 360.

Gears 1 = 10 million btw.

To be fair, Gears 1 development cost does not include the engine's development, since Epic had already created it before (Unreal Engine).

Nevertheless, your question is still somewhat valid. There probably hasn't been a technically focused 360 game with as high a budget as some of Sony's 1st party games.

Can any of you guys even give timelines for when KZ2 started or how much the game cost to make. If not stop tossing around lines saying the game took so long to make or costs an insane amount to make. GG only has 140 workers, this was said in an interview this week, i think it was one of the dutch ones. I've also heard Insomniac has upwards of 160+ workers. And you never hear anything about their games costing alot to make.

Sure, there are some successes here and there, but overall these type of hyped games won't lead to what is wished for. When you look at the hardcore releases, they get good sales fairly often. But all too often these large software sales do not equate to high hardware sales. I came to realize this when GTA IV was released and noticed that the trend has continued since then with the exception being what happened with MGS4.

They sure as well make for a wonderful gaming experience.... People don't tend to play hardware sales.

 Watever. I could easily say "Gears 2 does not have as good as graphics as Killzone 2 despite what some desperate fanboys like to believe"

Now please, there is no factual answer to this question but the general view is that KZ2 looks better. If you want to discuss this more there are loads of threads out there.
