Forums - Sony - Is Sony promoting Uncharted 2 more than Killzone 2?

richard you should stop generalizing. its rather tiredsome an stupid.

Generalizing?  Is overhyping a title helpful for a console?  If it has to do with the original subject matter, I was asking if it was so, based upon my wandering around Home.  It is entirely possible I am off, which is why it was a question, not a statement.

Same with the question regarding what percentage of PS3 owners are into FPS titles.  It was asked to be able to get an estimate on KZ2 sales at launch.

All i know is that Sony should pump the hell out of advertising for Killzone 2 because this was THE game that all those Xbox fanboys laughed back in 2005 claiming that the first trailer on E3 was just a movie and not ingame. Sony proved them wrong big time.

What part of Killzone 2, in game, is this:

That is the 2005 E3 trailer.  Again, what part of the game, in game is that?  Now, if you said that Xbox fanboys said that there is no way the PS3 could get close to that, you may have a case, but I am not sure your argument about the E3 2005 trailer is a good one to go with.

lol dude im pretty sure thats the opening of the game

edit: atleast i thought i read somewhere that scene is still in the game

edit2: the beginning of the vid looks to use parts of the famous e32005 trailer, and the new one is all in game. looks pretty darn close to me.

Thing is that it is NOT in game, and the current one approximates it, but isn't that close.  And it is this type of over the top hyping that does the Playstation 3 a HUGE disservice.  This talk, and Killzone 2 looks better than Crysis, will sell nearly a million copies in a week, and other over the top talk that only sets up for disappointment.

dude the new shit looks a hell of lot similar to the cgi quality. kz2 will most likely be the best looking CONSOLE fps till something new comes along, atleast alot of beta players said it looks fan-fucking-tastic.

this hype is well deserved from everything that i have heard of kz2, infact i think it needs more.

If "looks a lot similar to CGI quality" you mean that it kinda follows what seen in the 2005 E3 trailer, then you would be correct.  If you mean in level of detail, then answer is no.  And that is my take on it.  Yes, it looks real good in what they did.  Word is that it is a very good FPS title.   The draw distances in the 2005 E3 Killzone trailer also much further out than here.  Has it come a long way to approximate that 2005 E3 trailer?  Yes.  Is it there yet?  No.  The best thing to do, if you are a fan of Killzone 2, is to forget that trailer ever existed and to never bring it up.  Same with people who like Motorstorm.  Do NOT bring up the 2005 E3 stuff.

I would also say, if you mean by "hype" discussing the game a lot, then a fan of it can argue that.  However, if you end up saying hype as in saying that it "blows away Crysis" on the graphics front, and will sell MILLIONS of copies within the first 48 hours, blowing away sales records of Halo 3 and Gears of War 2, then you are doing a disservice.

The Uncharted 2: Among Thieves trailer is newer than the killzone actual "trailers." I'm sure there will be a lot of killzone 2 trailers close to launch date. What I'm curious about is just how far along Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is for them to be promoting it as heavily as they are.

The latest word is "Fall 2009" for release of Uncharted to.  I am sure it isn't as far along as Killzone 2, which is why I was wondering why Sony wasn't promoting KZ2 as much as Uncharted 2 at this point.  Does Sony feel that Uncharted 2 is more of a flagship product than KZ2, and more universally acceptable?  Is it because KZ2 will be M-Rated, that it can't be shown in some spots?  On Home, Uncharted does have its own location you can go to, while Killzone 2 doesn't.  Far Cry 2 does also, if that means anything.

Is it seen merely as a foil to Halo and Gears 2?  All this is speculation of course.  Will see what Sony does in February.
