Pachter's an idiot, I'm sorry I had to say it!!! Ok OT, at first I thought they (Sony) might drop the price around the release of Killzone 2, but then I realised it was too soon, so if I had to take a guess I would say around the release of God of War 3 or during E3!!!

If Sony was to cut the ps3's price this early, then I would back the idea that Sony would discontinue the ps3.

1) They cannot keep losing money... and it would make it quite worse to do so in a faster rate.
2) If the situation gets worse, then Sony would have to make big cuts. And where else than where they are taking the most losses from? Yeah... not a very good idea.

I think the best sony can do to save the ps3 is not to cut the price until it can do so and still make a profit. I keep wondering if they can do this in 2009.

Nintendo is nowhere close to cutting price. First will be new colors. Then will be new bundles. Then they will pack in hardware like Motion+. Only after that will they cut price. They may never cut price and just wait til the next generation of consoles.

I wonder what Pachter would say after reading the most recent Nikkei report? He might want to revise part of that prediction.

Yeah, this doesn't make much sense despite the 3rd place finish. The company is bleeding money.

For the record, if this happens then it will make the second $100 price cut for the system while the 360 has dropped only $100 total despite being on shelves for over a year longer.

The PS3 is fine... it would certainlly excellerate sales, but it would also excellerate loses. Sony shouldn't bring down the price untill they can... as an after though though Bullet had a steller idea... take some of the BS out of the system and sell it for 100 bucks cheaper. You don't really need a Wifi or more than 2 or 3 usb ports right? A Wifi adapter could be sold seperate if someone ever wanted to get it after purchasing the system. This would also allow them to support new wifi technologies like N.
