And again, Wii Music is a musical toy. Just because you say the word "zenith", doesn't give you any more cred on the subject.

Sorry Miyamoto thought outside of your box. Get over it.

People said Wii Music would fail, and not even break 500k. Well, it's going way past that, and your constant whining over the subject isn't going to stop it. Deal.

He's not annoyed that Wii Music is different, he's annoyed that it's just complete shit. Miyamoto is probably the most talented developer in the industry, and because of this, people can't even admit when he's made something that just isn't good. And even if the game is decent, couldn't he have done a lot better? He's revered across the gaming world, by both fans and developers. And this is the best he can do?

I don't remember too many people saying that Wii Music, a game with "Wii" in the title, would not even break 500k lifetime. Sounds to me like someone is making up ridiculously low sales standards that no one ever said (except a crazy troll or fanboy) to make the game look more successful than it really is. To me, and I'm sure some other people, the games is a sales disappointment. And don't say that he's "whining," and certainly don't end your argument with "Deal." It's condescending as hell.

No deal.

C'mon Rocketpig, your assertion that because Miyamoto hasn't made anything for you in the last ten months means he's "jumped the shark" and will never make anything you enjoy again is a little irrational, don't you think?

I agree with the OP that the best games have a system which is easy to get into, but difficult to master. That being said, it's also good to have a variety niche titles with no depth or with an insane amount of depth. I like variety in my games, and Nintendo provides me with a lot of gameplay variety.

I wasn't a Nintendo fanboy coming into this generation. I was a lapsed gamer who mostly just played WoW. Last gen I played more Xbox than PS2 or GC, and the gen before that I played more PS1 than N64, and the gen before that I played more Genesis than SNES. Nintendo have turned me into a fanboy. They earned it by offering me things I didn't even know I wanted. Last month, I bought a DS, and my conversion is complete.

The problem with Myamoto is that he's not heading any of Nintendo's great games anymore. Zelda, MK, Mario, all passed on to other directors/producers.

His pet projects on the Wii have been some of the things I hate most about the system. Wii Music was the zenith of his complete lack of judgement and horrible sense of direction. To quote something entirely relevant:

Sick Boy: It's certainly a phenomenon in all walks of life.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: What do you mean?
Sick Boy: Well, at one time, you've got it, and then you lose it, and it's gone forever. All walks of life: George Best, for example. Had it, lost it. Or David Bowie, or Lou Reed...
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Some of his solo stuff's not bad.
Sick Boy: No, it's not bad, but it's not great either. And in your heart you kind of know that although it sounds all right, it's actually just shite.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: So who else?
Sick Boy: Charlie Nicholas, David Niven, Malcolm McLaren, Elvis Presley...
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: OK, OK, so what's the point you're trying to make?
Sick Boy: All I'm trying to do is help you understand that The Name of The Rose is merely a blip on an otherwise uninterrupted downward trajectory.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: What about The Untouchables?
Sick Boy: I don't rate that at all.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Despite the Academy Award?
Sick Boy: That means fuck all. Its a sympathy vote.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Right. So we all get old and then we can't hack it anymore. Is that it?
Sick Boy: Yeah.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: That's your theory?
Sick Boy: Yeah. Beautifully fucking illustrated.

Your point isn't that what he's doing isn't as good as what he's ever done, it's that he's not doing exactly the same things anymore, which is what you want him to do. Same goes for Bowie, Lou Reed, and many others.

Fans get locked in on what they are used to recieving, and when it isn't that anymore they turn to the forums...

Yes, "Let's Dance" is just as good as "Space Oddity". If Myamoto can come back with an "Earthling" album, I'll retract my statement.

You chose not to acknowledge that, but its true, there are people on this website that enjoyed it. The aim of a game is to enjoy, there you go, it succeeded as a game.

You're welcome.

That's another annoying thing. People saying /thread when they think they've made a good point (although they usually haven't). I'm sorry if I sound really mad, but this arrogance drives me crazy. I'm sure there are people on this site who enjoyed Wii Music. I'm sure there were people on this site who enjoyed Haze, Game Party, Too Human, Superman 64, etc. That doesn't make them good games. And a game can't succeed unless the developer has some pre-set expectations for it, either quality or sales wise. I don't know what Nintendo is thinking, so maybe Wii Music succeeded in their eyes.

Thanks.

what genre of music do you like? Ok now take that answer because i don't care about it and think of all the ones you don't like.

Point: ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY THAT THE GENRES YOU DON'T LIKE ARE BAD?

You don't like wii music, does that make it bad?

I loved wii fit and mario party, lots of people call them bad games, guess what, I've played them and the people complaining usually haven't. Mario Party is a *BLAST* with ->friends<- at night.

Do you even have a point? You don't like Wii Music? So that's it?

It's a scientific conclusion now folks, this person has stated to us as fact that Wii Music sucks. Let's all take our thinking caps off, and thank him for making our decisions for us.

ok good sir (ye right), the most influential game this gen has an average score on metacritic. It is also arguably the most influential game ever made, hence i won't even name it because you know what i'm talking about.

Are you trying to say that super influential game, getting loads of people into gaming and having fun, is average?

and guess what?!?!?!? I have a 360, which i bought with my own money! You have successfully failed at predicting who or what i am.

So you would argue that fun isn't subjective?
