Well while i agree that the PS & PS2 were the less powerful systems against N64 & XBOX respectively, and i agree they were more future proofed, i.e. CD for PS much more flexable, bigger games, able to play music CDs, PS2 play films without silly hacks etc. I dont think the same can be said for 360.

In this instance technology wise is the more powerful (subjective i know, but for the sake of the thread's argument)/expensive system is the more future proofed. If BD takes off like its looking like so far, and the PS3 is the best machine for stereoscopics (again subjective at this point), then who knows.

My only guess is the outcome of this console war wont be overly comparible with the last couple of generations.

Wait, Sony is going to make money selling Playstation brand headache pills? Wow, pharmacuticals are a good money spinner!

Though you do realise that cheap as chips is probably the number 1 feature of a future proof console?

PSP is still selling good

But clearly you forgot to factor in the new RROD replacement program. Every 3 years your system will RROD, you send it in and MS will upgrade all the inner components for the low low price of $250 This will ensure that no 360 on the market is ever over 3 years old since since no 360 will ever reach 11 years of age the system will be future-proof and last forever!

the new version of xbox 360 (jasper) reduce RROD rate and futur verion will certainly fix the problem

and 250$ to fix a 360... this is nonsense you can buy a new 360 for less than that already

if i had a 50 cent every time i heard Microsoft fixed RROD i could buy Microsoft company

if people say sony cant do 10 i cant see the 360 doing 11

I told my Tuscan Pinini it was on a 2 month plan... 2 months later my stomach explained a little thing called reality.

I'm not sure if this has just graduated into a joke or if people are being serious about this.

Producers don't get to decide how long a product will be on the market, consumers decide that - this isn't a service based on advertized revenue - games are strictly product industry.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

so you're saying that microsoft want to keep RROD and pay 1Billion$ (like they did in 2007) to fix broken xbox each year.

if Microsoft want to support xbox 360 for more than they did with xbox, they will fix RROD problem.

you get so much with a standard Ps3, from wireless networking to Linux. There is just soo much inside it that is still yet un-tapped. And it's fully capable at handling native 1080p resolutions and playing blu-ray etc the list goes on. I think of the Ps3 as futureproof. Where's the 360 is going to be outdated soon with it's inferior dvd format and the xbox arcade having no hard-drive complicates the future for big games and console updates. No wifi. The Wii I would expect to be the least future proof having no HD capabilities in any way, but it has proven me wrong again and again so there's no telling with that one.

I still say the Ps3 will last the longest, maybe not ever sell more than the Wii. But it is built for the future of gaming.

Microsoft will make a slim version that has no RRoD and it will last the 11 years ;)
