Forums - Gaming - any 360 or PS3 fans willing to help with platinum sellers articles?

as you guys know I have been doing a wii platinum sellers article once a month, but have been wanting to do one for the other systems, so as to not make us look one sided.  I will be willing to dod the write up, if people are willing to help me out with predictions and such.  any takers?

here is an example of what I'm talking about:

I don't mind doing it for them as well. I have no bias when it comes to sales of course. If you want me to I can give you a rundown on the PS3 and 360 games as well. Just tell me what ya want me to analyze or make predictions on like for the last month or future or both.

that would be awesome, I'll make some threads, and see if seece is on board for the 360 one (since he runs a thread for platinum 360 games), we could get this rolling nicely.

I'll try to at least make a standard update edition for the first ones this weekend.

Alright then. I'll just write ya one and put it in here. I had already made a prediction on 360 platinum sellers anyways.

awesome man!

Alright I'll just analyze the titles that went platinum during the holiday season and then predict for the future:

360

Throughout its life cycle, 360 has been continuously known as a software beast. It has attach rates that are unheard of for any other console. Even after losing first place in the console wars in summer 2007, the software numbers kept rolling in. Holiday season 2008 has been no slouching moment.

Going into the holidays the 360 had 50 million sellers. This was the week before Black Friday or the week ending November 28. By the week ending January 3rd, 2009 it obtained 13 platinum sellers to get to 63:

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Need for Speed: Undercover
Soul Calibur IV
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Farcry 2
Left 4 Dead
Saints Row 2
Rock Band 2
Guitar Hero: World Tour
Sega Superstars Tennis
Fallout 3
Kung Fu Panda
Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

Now a few were games that had been selling for awhile that just made it over such as Soul Calibur IV and both Lego Star Wars. 3 of course came as a part of the recent bundles which is Lego Indiana Jones, Kung Fu Panda, and Sega Superstars Tennis. But most were games that had just recently released that showed their early selling power. I had originally guessed that 360 would have 61 million sellers by the end of the year but Farcry 2 and NFS: Undercover made that prediction a little off. Either way, 360 had a great year for new additions.

But of course it won't stop there. Not only did it add these titles but it has set up a few other titles to go platinum in within the first 3 months of 2009. These titles include:

Ninja Gaiden II
007 Quantum of Solace
Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Prince of Persia

Within the next 12 weeks I'd suspect that those all go platinum. Sonic the Hedgehog, Burnout Paradise, and Dead Space also have a good shot. Sonic, however, probably already is platinum if it had up to date sales in the others category. I'd suspect the same of DIRT, The Orange Box, and Scene It: Lights, Camera, Action.

For the rest of the year expect games such as Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, GRID, WWE: SvR 2009, PES 2009, Lips, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, and Endwar to all make platinum status as well. There are a few others that have a shot but I'll wait for more time to assess them.

Along with that new releases in the next 3 months I expect LOTR: Conquest, Street Fighter IV, Halo Wars, FEAR 2, Resident Evil 5, Splinter Cell: Conviction(if the release date stays), and The Godfather II to all go platinum eventually.

2009 will be no slouch in platinum sellers for the software giant that is 360. As the userbase grows and becomes more settles attach rates can only increase and so will the platinum games. I won't predict when it will hit 100 but its got an inside shot to do it within the next 12 months.

PS3

Although hardware sales disappointed some, software still kept flowing on the PS3. It may not have been able to amount as many as 360 or Wii this season but it still got its fair share and going into 2009 it will continue to get a fair share if not an uneven share in its favor.

Before entering Black Friday week or data up to the week ending November 28, 2008, the PS3 had 19 million sellers. Up until the week ending January 3, 2009 it obtained 5 million sellers which puts it at 24 total. These include:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Fallout 3
Resistance 2
Madden 09
LittleBigPlanet

Recently before this week it had obtained PES 2009, Call of Duty: World at War, and Fifa 09 which shows just how many it was getting. Most of these titles just had steady legs or strong openers. LBP, however, essentially became the PS3 title to own during the holidays along with CoD: WaW which is why it's sales are well above a million.

However, PS3 won't stop there. Within the next 12 weeks it plans on tacking on quite a few more million sellers. They include:

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Soul Calibur IV
Need For Speed: Undercover
Guitar Hero: World Tour

Other games that have a shot in the next 12 weeks include Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Farcry 2, and Tomb Raider: Underworld.

The first 12 weeks of 2009 won't be lackluster for releases either. Such titles as LOTR: Conquest, Street Fighter IV, Killzone 2, The Godfather II, and Resident Evil 5 all have a great should all go platinum one way or another.

There's obviously a chance I'm missing some titles but of course I'll never know until I see more sales data. PS3 is going to have a lot of platinum sellers considering it's hardware userbase compared to the rest of the crowd. As it grows, so will the million sellers and we'll see titles surprise us.

You're missing games with missing data, for example Rock Band PS3 is probably already a million seller as is Oblivion, COD3 and Need for Speed Carbon, Singstar Vol 2 is probably gold if you include Others data, etc, etc...
