The day I beat battletoads without game genie...yes... beat that anyone

The day I beat battletoads without a game genie or a single warp... Yes, beaten!!!

Seriously, when i finished Battletoads i was so mad at the ending, it was an ending for a medium game, but not for a game that made me lose my thumbs...

But i don't consider myself hardcore, i'm a gamer since the Arcade/2600 days, but it was only for amusement, what really got me hooked up was the NES/FAMICOM (I had a NES first, then a FAMICOM with NES adapter thanks to the Asian community) and the Arcade games after the crash...

It was fun tho, wasn't it? :)

I tried playing it recently on an emulator...forget it, I couldn't even get passed the surfing level. The legit way anyways...using quick load and quick save...thats another story.

The dog is what made it memorable =/

Hardcore gamer to me is someone who invests and dedicates part of they're life to gaming. They think about it, they make plans for it, they talk about it, they visit forums to discuss it, and they show a genuine interest for gaming as a whole.

A casual gamer to me, is the person who owns no console, shows up at a party where someone is playing rock band and says "Oh I love that game!" . Play's it mad style for over an hour, and after getting off the drumset doesn't regard it as an experience he/she has invested in, yet a musing to kill time, have fun, and socialize :P This person can go home and not feel the need to ever think about buying a console to play it on his/her own time. They "casually" stumble upon it and have a great time ^^

The moment I became hardcore in my mind, was the moment I wanted a Super Nintendo, because I saw my grandpa playing video games and simply had to have one @_@ I thought about it all the time and wanted to play so many games. Before the super nintendo, my father had given me his atari, but I never got into it. The thing sat in my room and I'd play it occasionally, but it was never an urge, I'd never think about the game I would play, I certainly wouldn't talk about it :P I had no passion, but that Super Nintendo man... that was a lifestyle!

i tought hardcore gamer was the guy who plays only 16+ and 18+ games

There are different types of "Hardcore" gamer.

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

OMFG, how could I forget about Super Ghouls' n Ghosts.

That's when I became a true hardcore gamer xD. That son of a beast was HARD, it defined HARD on so many levels. Then the 2nd play through was even worse >.>
