The day I beat battletoads without game genie...yes... beat that anyone

battletoads was an awesome game...and incredibly difficult.  getting by the "surf board" lvl was hell.

grats on a crazy achievement

cheers   - kw

Thanks man. The snakes I found the hardest...Ice level was also pretty brutal but there is warp zone on the hover car level which skips the ice level.

I do want to mention that it was the Genesis version tho...not the nes, which I believe is impossible. Genesis version was the same game but with tighter controls and more hearts.

if you want to use the term hardcore gamer...I guess I'll entertain the phrase by my definition of what it is or should be, rather than all the other pompous nonsense its correllated to these days on forums such as these.

when I first "fell in love with video games and got hooked for life", I think it was the mid 80's with King's Quest on pc and Defender and Centipede on Coleco Vision.  I've been hooked on gaming ever since those initial experiences.

Anyone else a King's Quest junkie from way back?

Going by this definition I would say I became "hardcore" when I lost 2 years of mu life to Diablo II.

going on 9 years of EverQuest (at least I don't put in 150 plus hours a month anymore)

The day i saw my dad put a NES in the shopping cart as i was sitting in the cart.

when i first played online on Gears of War (two years of addiction followed)

I'm not hardcore.

The only game I play hardcore is everquest. I put up to 300 hours into games I play but they are RPGs, so thats not really outside the norm. I've been playing everquest for almost 10 years, 1000s of hours.

I've pretty much decided the hardcore term should only be used to describe how much someone plays a single game (not the typical usage) OR to describe how much gaming a person plays (the typical usage), but not to describe the game itself.

The day I tried the Jagged Alliance 2 demo back in 1998 (i guess).

I think, this game is still one of the best desinged games ever made.

It was back in 1985 when I started kicking ass on the Texas Instrument. Remember that console, I don't think so cuz your not Hardcore!

Nowadays I'm no longer hardcore, because I donated the console away in the 90s.
