Forums - Gaming - What's the best version of Final Fantasy IV?

I'm just curious.. This is out of the SNES, PS1, WS, GBA and DS versions.

I'm personally fond of the GBA version because of the monster index, ability to use former members of your party in the last dungeon/boss, and portability.  Then again, that's the 2nd version out of 2(SNES) I've played..

Pixel Art can be fun.

The DS version. This isn't a contest.

I've owned all of them except for the Wonderswan version, and I am telling you, straight up, that the DS version is the best. No questions asked.

It's harder, but using strategy makes the game a lot more satisfying too.

In my opinion, the Ds version changes WAY too much.

I don't really like the augment system, and I'm not a huge fan of how some of the characters look. Tellah and Yang look like idiots in the DS version IMHO.

I like the SNES version best.

We'll miss you George.

The DS version is much improved over the others. The only thing it lacks is the ability to easily play it on a big screen TV.

You are by no means required to use the Augment system and their character models, particularly in-game, are very much in keeping with their original designs and sprites.

An improved script, increased difficulty, fleshed out backstory for several characters, remastered soundtrack, and excellent voice acting really push the DS version over the top for me.

I agree that there are alot of improvements. I guess I'm just too much of a fan of the old SNES version.

Does anyone else think that Yang's mustache makes him look like a child molester?

Nostalgia is a very powerful force, it's true. I don't know how I'll be able to adjust whenever they finally make a FF6 remake - but FF4 on the SNES was my first Final Fantasy, and I was just really excited to see it in 3D at first.

I really enjoyed the DS version, however I haven't played the GBA version and the SNES version (which was a jap to english rom) I haven't played in so long I don't remember much about it.

thanks Khuutra, damnit..who the HELL wouldn't LOVE the DS version if he remotely liked the others?

unlike alot of 3D remakes (FFIII), FFIV keeps the art...even in 3D

and has pretty much all the extras from the Advance..save a few..don't remember wich

good voice acting..not super..but pretty good, augment system..wich you don't have to use

and the fat chocobo has the bestiary too..and a cinema for all the cinematics..and and *TONS OF EXTRA STUFFS!!!*

go get the DS version...you're missing out IF you remotely like RPGs or FF in general
