WoW rules. It is not just about the gaming, it is about the socialization. I talk with friends for hours while we level and stuff. We even lan it and drink booze and have a great time and dance and listen to awesome tunes, while my gf bakes cookies and watches anime with her girlfriend.

WoW is awesome.

I honestly don't understand how you can become addicted to a game. maybe it's just how I am but I am not even the slightest bit addicted. I love the game but the only time I play is when my friends are online because that is when it is the most fun (real life friends that is).

I wasn't addicted to it, but I played it a fair amount (over 237 days, I averaged 78 minutes of play a day). I quit the game because my friends and family did, for some odd reason, think I was addicted to it. I didn't really care a lot (but I started playing a bit less), but when all my friends (not the same who called me addicted :P) quit, the game simply lost its fun factor.

Now Kakuro, that is an addictive game.

I was addicted, and I didn't even enjoy it really. I just had a continual impulse to level, even when I knew it wouldn't be fun...

I'm long recovered though, and since nothing appealed to me in the game in the first place, nothing will tempt me back. I only started because my housemates at the time were all into it.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Just keep it up, you forget about WoW eventually.

Haha, that's hilaroius... it's like you speak of the game so casually, even though you dropped 237 days on it (that's a few weeks more than me I think). Man, crazy stuff... and I didn't even think you were the WoW type.
edit: Nvm, think I misunderstood you. I feel stupid now xP

@Thechalkblock: Eh, impossible. For me, anyway... when I've still got a couple (rl) friends constantly reminding me...

Yeah. I'm with you OP... don't give in to WoW... don't give in... (I'm at 8 months now!)

Why am I not the WoW type? I really loved that game, and put 212 hours into it (I just checked. I messed up in my original post, in which I say 310 hours).

It didn't feel like that much though, I almost only played with my friends, and I was normally in the same house as at least one of them.

I was more of a lv 19 PvP guy though (I figure half the time I played was on him, and half on my main).

I do understand that people get addicted to it though... One friend has now played it for over 3000 hours (he normally plays over 5 hours a day!).
