rumors of big cuts in sony and etc... was it because the ps3 make sony lose alot of money or this recession or both?

PS3 having been overengineered + one of the worst recessions in recent memory = fucked up situation.

It's a combination of factors:

- The recession hurting electronics sales a lot
- Unfavorable exchange rates in the past few months
- Low profit margins
- Sony's lack of dominance in most of the markets it's in
- High debt, not much cash

The strong Yen and the global recession are the primary factors in their financial woes. Additionally, Sony made a lot of stupid mistakes with its gaming division in recent years and it has caught up with them at an inopportune time.

Its just cause this is a games site Sony is more under the spotlight. They'l obviously not go under (no chance in Hell) but they'l downsize. Sony needs a kick up the ass.
