Forums - Microsoft - Profile help after replacement console -- Mr Stick or somebody help...

I just got back a replacement console from microsoft for my dead one.  All four of my previous profiles are obviously still on the hard drive.  I've paid for several XBLA games and my main profile can still access them but the the three other profiles used by people in the house can no longer access the full games -- just the trial versions.  Their save files are still in place, achievements, etc. are still in place.  What gives?  Is there some sort of process to fix this?  As an example, band of bugs... I bought it and play it as user 'X'.  It is fine after my new box got here.  User 'Y' is now unable to play the full game of band of bugs -- it will only load the trial game even though it shows up fine for user X.

I had that problem once with hexic on my main profile, my secondary could play it however (i don't have a refurb). I couldn't understand this so i power cycled a few times and it was then available...weird. This probably ain't helpful but give it a go.

PS. can u not re-download them since you've paid for them?

Ummm, let me think....

You should be able to go online and with your profile that paid for the games, re-download the full paid-for version.

So......

Go online, find the game you paid for, and choose to re-download the full version. It should be marked on your account that you already downloaded it. Just re-download the full version, and you shouldn't have to pay for it.

It'll keep your old save files as well (as far as I know).

Hope that helps/works.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

yeah, if the bug is local to your HDD... just erase and DL again.. once you paid for content it's yours for ever even if you erase... except movies ....
try with one you don't really play or anybody in the house... it should work

i'll try redownloading the full game again and see if it unlocks it for the other profiles. Thanks for the help. If that doesn't do it, I'll call MS and see if they can give me a quick fix idea.

I just thought I would come back and post a solution in case someone else has this issue.

Basically, if you have an Xbox Live Arcade games you have purchased and have other gamer profiles that play them and you have recently had your Xbox repaired and returned to you, then this applies to you.

For some reason the "extra" profiles (not the one you bought the XBLA games with) don't see the full game available -- just the demo -- even if the game has been played, their are achievements, etc.

To fix it, as mentioned above, log in as the user that bought the game and re-download it. It will be free since it was already paid for and it will fix the issue. Annoying, of course, but it does solve the issue.

I'm glad my fix worked :)
