So for christmas one of the only things I asked for was a packet of "Miracle Berries", they are freeze dried berries which alter your taste buds temporarily. I have only just got around to trying them and was surprised to find just how well they work. The idea is that you dissolve the tablet around your mouth and for about 10 minutes sour and bitter tasting foods and drinks will taste sweet.
raw lemons taste like sweet lemonade and orange juice is quite overwhelmingly sweet and is like very strong orange squash, apple juice is like still apple tango, vinegar tastes nice but still catches the back of your throat and made me cough for a good few minutes, wine is also a lot sweeter.
I have yet to try guiness which is meant to taste like chocolate milkshake
There are however more practical uses for the berry rather than just messing around with lemons, diabetics and people on diets can use it to satisfy their sugar cravings, and it is being used on chaemotheropy patients to help remove the metallicy taste which is left as a side effect. It may even be used as a healthy substitute for sugar itself in the future.
I would recommend trying them out, I cant see myself buying a second packet in the future but they are really interesting to play with.
