Forums - Gaming - Some points to ponder for folks who take some things way too seriously...

1.  This has been said to death, but it must (obviously) be resubmitted:  Why would the sales numbers of a particular console matter in your enjoyment of its games.  Once a console reaches critical mass - in terms of sales - it will get great games.  All three systems have done this, so why the bitching?

1A.   Do we have people who pine for the monopoly days so they only need one system?  Well, those days are over, so get used to it.  When the Genesis came out, I bought one immediately - does that make me less of a Nintendo afficianado?  Nope, just a person who enjoyed gaming.  Competition is good.  Do you think you would be seeing a $400 PS3 or $200 360 if not for the competition?

1B.  Do you have some vested interest in the success or failure of one of these companies?  Or... is it just that you can't bear to live in a world where YOUR console is not the most popular?  Does that poison your enjoyment of the games for the "loser" (fruit from a poisoned tree as it were) so much that you are a sad shell of a gamer unable to take any comfort in the work of countless programmers?

2.  The current "retort of the day/month/year" for the Wii's continued success is "the Wii has the poorest library" or the psuedo-intelligent quip "metacritic doesn't lie".  Ok, the Wii folk then counter, "reviews are flawed," or, "that is not a telling method of deliniation," or some such, but everyone ignores the more fundumental question....

WHO CARES  if wii has 40 games over 80% and PS3 has 80 games over 80%.  Most people aren't going to be able to play that many anyway.  Or at least, not people with real jobs, real lives and real responsibilities.  All that matters is that there are enough games to satiate a person.  Some people with no lives and even less responsibility may be able to play and beat all 80 games, and I say "good for you" and also "I'm sorry".  Wii has more than enough for me (for the record, I still own 4 unopened Wii games and no system).  This arguement is about as pointless as flaunting sales.

Get over it and enjoy your games.... and yes I DO know that this is a sales website.
