A lot of people have been messaging me, asking me to review the Sony Playstation 3. So I feel obliged to do it I will be fair and balanced in my review.

My initial impressions first were this console is build like a tank it seems indestructible, very heavy and a beaufitul gloss finish. I knew I had bought a quality product, when you turn it on its very quiet you barely notice the fact it's on. The interface is very nice and simple, everything is easy to find.

As you can see from the picture the Playstation 3 oozes quality. From start to finish the console is a work of art even Leonardo Da Vinci would have been proud at the craftmans ship involved. You can inmediately tell this a next gen console it uses the magnificent 'Blu Ray' that takes gaming to a whole another level. The Dvd drive functionality simply quality. The ps3 comes with everything you need straight out of the box whether its gaming, High definition movies, storing pics or movies, internet browser etc. Every ps3 comes with a standard hard drive of 20-40-60-80 and 160gb. Offering the consumer to upgrade to hard drive that meets their needs.

As I noted in my previous paragraph the ps3 takes gaming to a whole another level, with some games only possible on the ps3. Games such as Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2 - games that will trully seperate itself from the competition and raise the bar even further. When the ps3 initially launched the 'Psn network' was very poor considerably inferior to the mighty 'Xbox Live'. Psn network was trailing the competition but that was back in 2006 and we are in 2009. The Psn Network has gained ground on the 'Xbox Live' almost identical in their service altough Xbox Live is still ahead is it ahead by $40? only time will tell my friends.

  

At the end of the day the ps3 is an amazing console, no question about it. Its my favourite console it has had a great year in 2008 and will even have a better year in 2009. In terms of games for 2009 the ps3 seems to been it's own league but what does Microsoft or Nintendo have up their sleeves only time will tell my friends.

My personal criticism would be that Sony did not respect their competition and did not value their customers when they launched the ps3 back in 2006. Retailing for a staggering $600, this is unacceptable Sony's previous succes made them complacent and they are now in third position.

A position that both gamers and analysts had not predicted - another mistake was removing the ps2 backwards compatitibilty and stopping the production of the 60gb the console which had backwards compatibility, this is quite frankly outrageous.

I must pay tribute to Microsoft they have continuesly slashed the price of their console, introduced a new interface, maintained the quality of Xbox live. In my honest opinion the Xbox 360 deserves to be no1, the Xbox 360 has produced great games on a consistent basis but the nintendo wii has been offering too many casual games, alienating their consumer base  and with  a very thin third party support. In my opinion the Nintendo Wii does not deserve the place it'sat, this is my honest opinion the Xbox 360 has done more for gamers in terms of quality games on a consistent basis.

A position that both gamers and analysts had not predicted - another mistake was removing the ps2 backwards compatitibilty and stopping the production of the 60gb the console which had backwards compatibility, this is quite frankly outrageous.

I must pay tribute to Microsoft they have continuesly slashed the price of their console, introduced a new interface, maintained the quality of Xbox live. In my honest opinion the Xbox 360 deserves to be no1, the Xbox 360 has produced great games on a consistent basis but the nintendo wii has been offering too many casual games, alienating their consumer base  and with  a very thin third party support. In my opinion the Nintendo Wii does not deserve the place it'sat, this is my honest opinion the Xbox 360 has done more for gamers in terms of quality games on a consistent basis.

If you read the rest of his post you'll see how fair and balanced it is. Athough megaman, the only part I don't agree with is the parts about the Wii. It has done something truly awesome: expanded the market. This is NEVER a negative in my book. No matter how you slice it, Nintendo was smarter than everyone this gen, even if I prefer the HD graphics. The Wii brought in new gamers the likes of which even the almighty PS2 hadn't done. Even though I prefer the PS3, I'm still very happy the 360 and Wii exist. And this also why I'll take tons of exclusive titles over tons of multiplats. Each system having it's own is better for the market.

 

i agree it has expanded the market so i will give them credit.

I agree with your conclusions about the Wii and the 360. credit where credit is due.

I don't agree with the statement about not respecting their customers. I think they did by releasing an amazing machine, top of the range in every way and i thank them for it.

but you are right, Sony didn't respect the market, and they certainly didn't respect their competition. they went about it in all the wrong way for this and they've paid the price.
