I enjoyed FFIX more. The story was more interesting, had better characters, better music, better environment and better battle system. Sure it was slow, but I enjoyed it. The only thing I liked about FFVII was the battle system and Tifa. The story was terrible.

I liked the Gameplay in 7 more, the Materia system was fun.

FFIX is the best PS1 FF imo and tied with FFIV as my second favorite FF. FFVI is my favorite. Play both though and decide for yourself. If you want to know which to get first then imo get FFIX.

as far as rpg's go ff9 is in my top 3, but ff7 isnt. i got so amazingly attached to the characters that it was hard to actually finish the game.

ff7 is overhyped, but then again with a scale that goes to 10 its rated a 12 by most.

I beg to differ. I played FFVI before I ever played VII. And played IX before VII too. And V. FFVIII was the least enjoyable one for me. and VII is by far my favorite FF.
