Forums - Gaming - Mod Controllers, Good? Bad? Or just damnd Ugly?

Ok, I didn't have to work today so I played a little Call of duty 4.  I noticed a guy was kicking a lot of ass with a pistol and a Sniper Rifle, which wasn't really that big of deal.  Later I started looking at some of his gun camera footage and the guy must have had a mod controller that was turning his pistol and sniper rifle into a fully automatic piece of flying death lead.  So I started looking into it a little and was tempted to goto radio shack and build one of these bad boys for myself.

I was wondering what are some of your thoughts on Mod Controllers?  I know there is nothing worse than playing against someone who has an unfair advantage but the temptation is there.  Do you think it is illegal?  Would I get banned from Live?  After I thought about it for a little while I ended up not going and getting the stuff to do it.  I may still try it but I doubt I will take the chance on getting banned from live.

Some of those videos on youtube are pretty kick ass though, I will give them that.

I hate when people use modded controllers

I dunno. This guy sells them at Gamecrazy (not actually part of the store), like in the parking lot, I think its great that someone can do it and all, but to me I would never play with it, or buy it. I guess I'm something of a purists. I don't mind taking advantage of secrets or overpowered items, but to me things like exploits and hacks are against the gamer code. Sure we all like to find out the "cheat codes" that the programmer put in there, but to mod something is going beyond that and thus isn't "part of the game" or whatever nonsense people argue.

What pisses me off the most about it is there is a way the software companies could stop this from happening. Its called a software clamp and COD:WaW uses one. If the game detects you firing more than your weapon should it slows you down to only so many bullets a second.
