     "But now, things are really looking up for Microsoft's product as it is on a high ascending trend in terms of sales and popularity across all territories, even in Sony and Nintendo's native Japan. We've heard Square Enix, a major developer of games from the Land of the Rising Sun, talk about its opinion on the fact that the Xbox 360 will become even more popular in that country and now it seems that another big Japanese developer, Capcom, is also confident in the North American console."

     "Keiji Inafune, the head of the Research and Development department for Capcom, recently talked with the Seattle Times about the problems that the Xbox 360 has encountered in Japan and how he thought that in 2009 Microsoft would sell quite a lot of consoles in that country. He then went on to stress that, because of the newly-found popularity of the 360 in Japan, local developers would need to start paying attention to this platform."

     They've been having a hard time of it since the launch in Japan,” said Inafune. “But lately it seems to have found its feet and the Xbox is selling a lot better now. Between this year and next year I think we'll see a lot more 360 games shipped in Japan.”

I hope this is true, the 360 is a great console with many great games.

Well ,its selling better ....but around the numbers we thought were an absolute disgrace for the PS3 some months back .

Its very cheap ,has a lots of games and has probably received a good image boost due to Square working for them ...but its still selling low numbers all considered.Selling 12K units in the middle of december ...its not a lot more that one year a ago is it ?

YAY! 1 million 360 sales in Japan coming up soon!

No non-Japanese company will ever release a console that will have a larger install base than Nintendo or Sony unless it's released before Nintendo and Sony do..and in that case, it will only have more sold for a short period of time.

Not saying 360 can't 'take off' there..just saying it'll never have more sold than Sony or Nintendo..ever. Not even the next generation of consoles..

It's selling better but still not great. But at least its making strides in the right direction. But I'm doubtful that the complete turnaround of the Xbox brand in Japan will happen within the 360's life cycle.

The 360 has done well in Japan but come on, not even a million after all those price cuts and JRPG's means the brand is anything but noticed there. Baby steps of course, the next XBOX console should most definitely do much better.
