Forums - Sony - Sony's stocks are going up

, 2008 by Art Green

When a company announces that they’ve cut production costs on a flagship product, investors tend to take notice. Recently, an iSuppli report showed that Sony has shaved 35 percent off the production of the PlayStation 3 console, leading to a surge in the company’s share price.

Sony has gained 2.7 percent in today’s trading session on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, outperforming the exchange average gain by 2.4 percent.

Today’s surge has sent Sony’s share price to the highest level in two weeks.

somehow i don't think the isuppli report is related to the increase in stock. Sounds to me like Sony cutting its workforce has cut the costs from other areas.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

sony its working hard to reduce cost almost 400$ in 2 years.
games and home will likely accelerate that abit =)

I wouldn't take a one day gain as anything, especially since the average of the market was up as well. It seems like some investors are trying to pick up some stocks for a low price. I don't know why the author bothered with an article for a one day gain on a stock.
